I am curious to see which of these guys, if any, CDD wants to keep. We saw a lot of the "collection of players" under Woodson, and very little "team"... we got a glimpse of it off and on throughout parts of the season, but as a whole, it was a collection. I wonder how any of these guys would respond to a real coach, with a real vision for his team. And to be fair, a some of these guys were playing out of their natural position, and with no scheme, I'd guess that they were left to their own devices (aka "street ball") in a lot cases... I would say that I am fine with whatever team Coach is able to put together with parts from recruiting, the portal, IU's last group and any WVa players that he can bring with him.

I am sure that he believes that (team vs collection)... and if he has seen any of Indiana basketball in the past 3-4 years, he has to know that was what Woodson did... so can't say it was actually a shot at Woodson, but it was truth...
-
Yes, especially with his comments about a "team" vs a "collection of players"... he talked about getting players with talent and that can play together... we had a few last season who didn't like sharing their toys... they're gone...

Did DeVries' presser win back any of the "fans on the ledge"?
-
I didn't hear the hump mentioned one time... I think we're over it!

Loved the shot at Woodson about trying to be successful bringing in 10-11 players every season... Woodson had exactly what DeVries said - a collection of players, and not a team. So pumped... let's go!!!

Sad that so many Indiana fans are crashing out over this hire...
-
We will know shortly... 5 mins to the presser...

Have you started the "Fire Coach DeVries" thread yet? I suspect people make fun of some Indiana fans because they are fickle... and they whine and complain about a coach before they are formally introduced...

Fortunately, we've not been in a position to lose a "really good" coach (or even a "good coach") in 30 years...
-
No he wouldn't. He'd win a few, but the rest would find another reason to b!tch about the hire.

Pretty happy with this hire. The white whales were not coming. We got a younger guy who knows Xs and Os, who has turned programs around at both Drake and WVa. Indiana needs a turn around, and I think DeVries will be able to get it done. He has a work ethic that far surpasses what we got from Woodson, who has a personality beyond what we got from Archie, and is not manic like Crean. Better days are ahead, and they start today... and will be manifested starting next November.

Yep... we be making us some real sour whine.

Why is Indiana "Outdated. Old. Forgotten. Irrelevant" when we hire an up-and-coming younger coach like DeVries, but Kentucky and Louisville get a pass for hiring Pope and Kelsey, respectively, just last year? Stevens, Donovan, Wright, Few, Drew, Pearl, Otzelberger et al were not coming... get over that. After the last 8 years, I get the "woe is me" schtick... but DeVries is a good hire who will work hard and make us proud... at the very least, he deserves a chance... damn...

Some people won't believe the truth, regardless of facts.
-
nope... it's good bye... good riddance... he's played IU twice and burned them both times...
-
"University of Indiana" was the tell...
-
DRock? Not sure if that works or not. :D
-
Well he managed to beat Kansas, Arizona, Iowa State and Gonzaga in one season with one of his star players was out due to injury... I have expectation that he can.
-
Found the problem ... he was playing for the University of Indiana ... no wonder he struggled ... he had no clue where he was for the last two years...
-
Agreed... would love to see the incentive structure of the contract...
-
agreed... it was between $5-6M last year...
