  11. 4-star point guard Rob Phinisee talks recent Big Ten visits BRIAN SNOW 9:14 AM Indiana point guard Robert Phinisee is one of the top floor generals in the class of 2018. Recently the pure point guard made a trio of unofficial visits to schools in the Big Ten. In a day and age where most kids are combo guards who try to score from the point guard spot, Robert Phinisee is different. He is a pure point guard who thrives on making others better. Phinisee has been a priority recruit for numerous Big Ten schools, and is working to find out as much as he can about all of the programs after him. Playing with Indiana Elite, Phinisee battled some knee tendinitis during the spring, but after some time off he is feeling better and says his game is really coming around. Robert Phinisee 5'11" / 160 lbs PG RANK 15 IN PG RANK 2 OFFERS 5 73 "I think the spring went well, and then things were good at the team camps I played in, in June," said Phinisee. "Getting to rest helped my knee a lot, so I am ready for July and I expect us to have a good July as a team." Schools such as Indiana, Purdue, Virginia, Butler, and Ohio State are all very much in the mix with Phinisee, and he recently visited three of those programs. The most recent visit for Phinisee was to Ohio State. Chris Holtmann and his staff had been recruiting Phinisee to Butler, and now they are once again showing him interest as they work to get him to Columbus to be a part of the Ohio State program. "I liked the program a lot," said Phinisee. "It was my first time touring the campus. They say they definitely need a point guard in the 2018 class because they don’t have a pure point guard in the program. They really want to get the program turned around quick, and they say they need a point guard like me to do it." When asked how the change from Butler to Ohio State has impacted the message in their recruitment, Phinisee said, "It is pretty much the same message from Butler. They want to bring in the right guys who fit what they do both on and off the court." Before heading out to Ohio State, Phinisee and his high school team made the trip to Bloomington for the Indiana team camp. About the trip to Indiana, Phinisee said, "It was a good time. The team did okay and it was just good to be playing at Assembly Hall, so it was a lot of fun." Indiana will lose starting point guard Josh Newkirk after this season, and Archie Miller and his staff are telling Phinisee they need someone who can step in right away and be a contributor. "They say they need an impact guy who can come in right away and play," said Phinisee. "They are looking for a point guard who can help them bring in a national title back to Indiana. Also they want to focus on bringing in all of the top in-state guys." A week before Indiana had their team camp, Purdue had theirs. Phinisee has been to Purdue numerous times as it is only 15 minutes from his house, and once again he enjoyed his time at Purdue. "I have a good relationship with the entire coaching staff," said Phinisee of Purdue. "They keep telling me I am a top priority, they just want to keep me at home. I know they are going to need a top point guard once P.J. Thompson leaves, and they say I can be that guy." For now Phinisee is in no rush to make a decision. He plans to narrow his list after July, and then make a decision in the fall after he takes some official visits. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

  22. I know the number of followers on social media as I contribute to the numbers I just don't think it matters in the end how some idiot acts on twitter. It isn't a good look when fans attend games and boo the coach and team but it happens. Adults need to act like adults everywhere not just online. Go to a 6 year old's baseball game and watch how some of the adults act in the stands. Sickening Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
