I Never said that lu should just look regionally all I said was historically geography wins out in these types of recruitments that doesn’t involve the big names. Slater the crystal ball king back in the day always said he starts every recruitment out with which teams are close to the recruit and majority of the time if it doesn’t involve the big names he always goes with the home teams

I’m guessing most fans wouldn’t be upset with beating Zags and Arizona on a neutral court and Kansas on the road and Iowa st at home. Last time those fans watched IU played Arizona, Zags and Kansas on the road they saw their team down 20 in the first half in all those games

You are right when you don’t have a long term recruiting plan for the program you are running it’s isn’t hard. Didn’t woody just over pay for a bunch of mercenaries that were only here for money and didn’t really produce results they posters on here wanted? DeVries seems to me like he actually has a long term plan and isn’t just going to throw out money because he has it. All those guys committed to IU in Mid April. Still got loads of time

His father’s family is from Louisville area and in an interview with Louisville 247 he said it’s like a second home. Kelsey reached out last year when he got the job however timing wasn’t right but said this year Kelsey was first coach to call and it worked out Dix when he originally entered portal Creighton was seen as the place he would end up to be closer to home for family reasons. IU wasn’t even mentioned with Dix until they got him on campus. Creighton paid enough and was home these recruitments are not always just about the money IU paid a bunch of mercenaries last year because they could and look how that ended up. I get people being on edge with where this program has been however for me I’m fine with letting an actual college basketball coach that just built a power 5 program from scratch last year and built a staff and team that beat Zags, Arizona, Kansas on the road and Iowa St a chance to do his job and not freak out over a recruiting battle miss

Indiana is just another program so yeah they don’t get the national bump those other programs I mentioned in a recruiting battle.

IU was always going to have to grind just like the rest of college basketball that go through a total roster turnover. Don’t care how much money your program has to fill it. Thinking they were going to sign every top 20 transfer just because they have money was unrealistic. Other programs grinded with 0 top 70 transfer additions when they did a reboot. Just the way it is. Embrace the suck and embrace the grind. IU has someone that has had to do this before at the power 4 level and ended up with a staff and players that competed with top programs in his first year. Now a coach on his previous staff for 1 year has a head coaching job and another is the associate head coach at a power 5 program near his hometown. If you want to panic have at it however from my point of view IU is in solid shape for next year

Yes. When he first entered it was the school everyone thought. Geography wins out in most these recruiting battles unless you are Duke, Kansas, North Carolina or Kentucky

When he first went into the portal Creighton was the early favorite to go along with Freeman. Every premium site posted that. Then stuff came out Creighton couldn’t pay both and Dix didn’t want to play with Freeman. Creighton was always there. My guess that’s where he wanted to go from the beginning and they stepped up and paid the money

This coach has a long term plan and only has been on the job less then 3 weeks and probably has done more recruiting then the last head coach had done in the last year. More kids will be entering the portal before the deadline. A coach with a plan isn’t going to panic 3 weeks into a job because a couple kids chose to go elsewhere. I’ve waiting 4 years for a college coach to coach the program I’m invested in I personally can wait and watch an actual college coach build a program

The last thing I’m worried about is the players the coaching staff decides to bring in and actually land. Regardless of the players they bring in they will actually be a part of an actual college basketball program with a plan. I will let others do the worrying
