Massive game on Saturday for both IU and Iowa. Iowa is 2-4 in conference. Don’t want to drop to 2-5 and IU doesn’t want to drop below .500 in conference
-
Still a loss though

Sounds familiar

Bubble teams have flaws. IU isn’t the only team fighting for a spot that is flawed. USC got smashed by 30 pts back to back at Michigan and Sparty. Bubble teams are on the bubble for a reason. Ius struggles don’t happen in a vacuum. Just got to see how the do against other teams fighting for a spot. 4 Q1a losses just tell us they are not a top tier team personally I want to see how they do against teams like Iowa, Wisky, usc and ucla

Coaches are going to roll with who they think will win them the most games. While some fans see this year as a lost cause the coaching staff still has a path for a successful year. Playing an international Big that isn’t ready or getting a random tall person at a gym just because they are big and different doesn’t mean it’s the right answer. IU is still right in the mix for an at-large bid as of today. My guess is he is going to ride the 8 healthy scholarship players until they drop and see what happens.

May was able to bring some of his guys with him and convinced players to stay. He didn’t do a full blow up. Dusty might be one of those once in a lifetime coaches. He followed year 1 up with what’s looking like a better year kelsey in my opinion took advantage of a historically weak ACC conference (good for him for doing it). He went 18-2 in the Acc if I’m remembering right and still got an 8 or 9 seed in the tourney. Played a ton of Acc teams with +100 net and didn’t really beat the tourney quality teams especially any on the road. Again he took advantage of the schedule laid before him. McCasland is one of my favorite coaches and was at North Texas. I never thought he would leave Texas for a coaching job and now that they have a billionaire writing blank checks to the athletic teams he is going to kill it for a while. Scheyer took over the standard program. I’m guessing anyone could have taken that job and succeeded. A little different taken over Duke compared to an IU program that doesn’t consecutive winning records in conference play in the last 8 years.

It’s been done before. Underwood at Illinois when he first got in the B1G stuck with his overplaying defense that worked at the lower level and then got humbled in his first 2 years at Illinois which i think are the 2 of the worst seasons in Illinois basketball history. He talked about swallowing his pride and building a better roster that made sense for the B1G ( went and recruited Cockburn). He has it rolling now

This is the one. Don’t think anyone saw him struggling this much especially those in the business that had him as a top 25 transfer portal addition.

Sounds like our old bubby Ostram is in the running to be the GM

That’s fine and if the fans don’t want to come back until then then there their choice. That doesn’t mean it’s not going to be a grind. I’ve said this for years if you don’t like the project then cut bait and move on and do other stuff. Last year I cut bait early in the season because I was over the coach and watched the rest of college basketball even more then I do. It sucked not watching IU but I had a tipping point. I have no problem with giving DeVries some time however as you said it’s been a grind for a long time so I can see why some don’t want to grind. He will either win enough games to bring people back to watching them or he won’t and we do this again down the road
