  4. Gabbi Jenkins Joins Hoosiers as Volunteer Assistant Coach A familiar name is coming back in a coaching role as Indiana Softball head coach Shonda Stanton announced career stolen bases record holder Gabbi Jenkins will return as a volunteer assistant coach. For Jenkins her final season in Bloomington as a player was a memorable one. The senior hit .331 for the season and stole 24 bases, in the process setting the Hoosiers all-time record for career stolen bases with 96. Jenkins led the conference with 18 doubles on the season to set a new Indiana program record for single season doubles. Jenkins hit her first career home run in walk off fashion to beat Penn State and added two more home runs on the season. Jenkins earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors following the Hoosiers series with Ohio State in which she hit .714 with 10 hits. "Gabbi is the ultimate Hooiser with her love, gratitude, and passion for her teammates, staff and Indiana University," IU head coach Shonda Stanton said. "She played a tremendous role in the growth of our program, and we are excited she desires to continue to impact and connect our past, present, and future success. Gabbi is unmatched in terms of character, academic achievement, competitive excellence and service, making her a tremendous addition to our staff." Jenkins was selected to the All-Big Ten Second Team, All-Defensive Team and NFCA All-Region. She earned Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors as well as a CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District selection. "To step into a role where I get to learn from and serve with some of the best in the game is a privilege," Jenkins said. "I have seen what it looks like for this staff to invest in my journey empowering and equipping me for my days beyond the field and I am eager to invest that right back into this program as we chase the goals we have for Indiana Softball." Jenkins, who has an undergraduate degree from IU in Elementary Education and is working towards a degree in Educational Leadership, earned recognition earlier this year as the Indiana Athletics female nominee for the Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award.

  9. Final stats from the Top 60 Camp. Today was a tournment format with the top 4 teams squaring off. The Hawks team that included Banks, Iwuchukwu, Reneau and Bona were the overall winners of the event. As I mentioned above, neither Bona nor Isaiah Collier have an IU offer. We watched Collier in several games this past month but his performance in this event certainly wasn't eye popping. Both Noah Clowney and Bona were named to the camp's all-star team. 10. A little trivia. If you don't think Montverde Academy is a tough place to get playing time it had a total of 7 kids drafted and 4 of them were in the first round: Cade Cunningham - #1, Scottie Barnes - #4, Moses Moody - #14, and Day’Ron Sharpe #29! Currently we have offers out to 3 Montverde kids: Jalen Hood-Schifino, Vincent Iwuchukwu and Malik Reneau.

  13. Stats for the 4 games played at the Top 60 Camp. I included Bona and Collier simply because we did watch them during the month of July. Neither has an IU offer. Kaleb Banks had an outstanding 2nd game this afternoon. Malik Reneau played well in both of today's games. W/L Pts. FGM FGA 3PM 3PA FTM FTA Reb Assts. 14. Couple of observations from today's NBAP Top 60 Camp. HoopSeen - The team of Stephon Castle Jett Howard, Vincent Iwuchukwu, and Adem Bona have won the 3x3 competition. Trent Markwith - I don’t think there’d be much of an argument to the claim that Adem Bona is the most athletic big man at NBPA Top 100. He’s been punishing the rims every chance he gets while also being extremely vocal and showing defensive versatility.
  15. Three-time All-American Armando Betancourt (1979-81) passed away on Wednesday in in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He was 63 years old. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/7/28/mens-soccer-mens-soccer-mourns-the-loss-of-armando-betancourt.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3FB8euKoXDgFcdIcE4U6h583qFJ1cK5ZuQWEtAXgGZKuhWwTo-fnx1qHM
  16. Box Score today's 2nd game that pitted Noah Clowney (Clippers) against the Hawks (Banks, Iwuchukwu and Reneau)
  17. 247Sports - Class of 2023 prospects Sam Orme and Joey Hart had a strong spring and summer, playing travel basketball with the Grand Park Premier program. Indiana is one of the high-major schools paying close attention to the duo, and Orme and Hart now are scheduled to make an unofficial visit to IU.
  18. Box score from one of the Top 100 games. IU offeree Ernest Udeh with a double double playing on the Lakers team. We've taken a pretty hard look at Isaiah Collier (76ers) but have not extended an offer. Haven't seen any details but Noah Clowney was cited as a top performer in one of today's earlier games. The format at this camp is skills development in the morning and then games in the afternoon.
  19. We have an assistant coach at the Top 100 Camp watching Favour Aire's team against a team that includes Kaleb Banks, Vince Iwuchukwu and Malik Renau. Also on this latter team is Adem Bona a center whom we have previously watched.
  20. What a Thanksgiving this will be. Indiana Women's Basketball has announced it will take part in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar Hyatt resort on November 25th and 27th. It will play two contests against the reigning national champion Stanford and Miami (FL). https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/7/28/womens-basketball-hoosiers-to-face-national-champion-stanford-miami-fl-at-baha-mar-pink-flamingo-championship.aspx https://iuhoosiers.com/documents/2021/7/28/Full_Release.pdf
  21. From the reports I've seen, the only option to watch the games is to be there in person. No TV, no streaming, no nothing.
  22. This is going to be a really good test for our team. BC Mega is not going to be a pushover. • Shooting guard Nikola Jovic is a projected lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He is 6-10, just turned 18 and averaged 15.8 points last season. • Point guard Dayshon "Scoochie" Smith played at Dayton from 2013-17 and averaged 13.8 points as a senior and had 498 career assists. https://indiana.rivals.com/news/game-times-announced-for-iu-bahamas-trip?fbclid=IwAR2w1cbVaoKxeT8id1GDnQ2mEk2ieLgd_nA8GcooDCdUUkgtx9mc0fubFIg
