We could potentially return our entire team minus Al Durham but adding Xavier Johnson, Logan Duncomb, and Parker Stewart (Considering Stewart an add because he sat out) I never thought any of this was possible after Archie was fired. Hoosiers!!!!

Xavier Johnson - Commits to IU (PG)
Blackmon_for_3 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
As much as I respect Al Durham and the work he put in at IU I believe adding XJ and bringing back Stewart makes the guard rotation significantly better. At least on paper. XJ sitting at 6’3” 200 plus pounds give a physical guard we sorely lacked for several years. Love the way this team is shaping up. -
Barr-Reeve beats Kouts 64-48. Curt Hope from BR finishes with 23 points and 19 rebounds in a great State Championship effort.

Every single loss to Purdue. Like a toothache that never got fixed.

(2022) - SG C. J. Gunn to DePaul
Blackmon_for_3 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Gunn is 6’5” and maybe still growing. Super athletic with length I imagine that is a perfect fit with what CMW wants to do with switching on defense. -
“Just being around him this short time I’ve been around him, I’ve just grown to love the guy. He’s an old school coach, he’s a player’s coach. You’re gonna get a guy that’s gonna put pressure on you for sure but he wants to get the best out of you, he wants you to be the best damn player you’re capable of being. I’m really going to miss him coaching me. I really learned a lot from him. He’s one of those coaches who, he believes in you. … I’m really going to miss him being on the sideline with me.” This is a quote from Taj Gibson and I gotta say if something like this doesn’t resonate with recruits I’m not sure what will. The more I learn about Coach Woodson the more it feels right,

Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

If it’s Woodson why not hire him a week and a half ago. Before half the team went into the transfer portal. -

Chris a great dude and I appreciate what he brings to the board. It’s a lot of fun to speculate and have wishful thinking until a turd “you” gets dropped into the punch bowl. -

Candidate Thread: Mike Lewis

Michael Lewis was a guy that stood up against Knight if he thought he wasn’t in the wrong. He is a guy that will stand up for IU basketball as a coach. He played for Jasper and I remember watching him play in the regional against my cousin’s Northeast Dubois team. They played him very physical and tried to get In his head but he ended up with a billion assist and an easy win. Im a fan and I actually wouldn’t mind him getting a shot to coach at IU. -
General Coach Candidate News

I do like Porter Moser a lot -
BR’s only two losses were to Carmel and Blackhawk Christian both in overtime. They handled everyone else the rest of the season easy minus rivals North Daviess and Loogootee whom they beat narrowly. The had a rematch with North Daviess in sectional semifinal and then beating Loogootee in the final. All 3 ranked top 4 in 1A and a very tough sectional. I doubt Kouts has played a team like them this season. IU showed interest in Curt Hopf as a freshmen but moved on and the he transferred to Barr-Reeve and SR Brycen Graber is the state’s all time assist leader breaking the record right before sectional. Should be a fun game for the 1A state title.

Proud 2002 graduate from Barr-Reeve here. We always have good teams but this team is special.
-
Hire the North Texas coach. It looks like he can beat Purdue.
-
Any chance Teri Moren wants to switch over the men’s side? I’m only half kidding.
-
Fife with a few other former players on the bench. Maybe give it a shot with an IU guy and go from there.

Yea I’m just not going to follow the coaching search and just check in from time to time to see who was hired. -

Jeff Goodman just trying to be relevant. I bet if you asked everyone at butler if he would leave for the NBA I bet it would unanimous “F No” -

When it comes to the Crossroads Classic it was renewed to 2021 so we would play Norte Dame this year but that could be the end if we opted out for a better tv deal. If Brad didn’t want to play Butler then it looks like the stars have aligned so he wouldn’t. -

The Gordon Hayward situation alone could be a season Brad would entertain offers to leave Boston. That is something I hadn’t thought much about. -

This is what I’m thinking. Where is all the buzz for IU reaching out to other coaches? This thing has been super hush hush and secretive. Why go full CIA dark ops if it isn’t for a big target? It always leaks when a team reaches out to a coach even if they are in the tournament. A whole secondary industry is based off it. -

There are a couple things outside of how much I like his coaching style and the b2b championship game runs. First he beat the doors off Crean’s #1 ranked team in the crossroads. He made adjustments and knew Jordan Hulls couldn’t guard Barlow so he drew up a simple isolation play for him and game over. The second point is the success he had with Rosevelt Jones. The guy couldn’t shoot a lick and ended up scoring 1500 points at Butler. Stevens can really get the best out of player and team. Just two examples out of many.
