5 years? I say if we don't see improvement in 3, then it might be time to move on. The roster he inherited is pretty decent and he had a full year (as DC) to recruit on that side of the ball. I'm a big Allen fan and I'm really hoping he succeeds and stays at IU for a long time, but if we win 4 or 5 games each of the next two seasons then it may be a sign that things aren't working out.

I think recruiting in Indiana was going to be hard no matter what. That's why we needed to have a 7+ win season; that would have shown potential recruit that we were finally turning the corner. Next season will be pivotal in that sense because if we have another 4 or 5 win season all momentum in recruiting will be lost.

I'm less nervous on how the defense will perform next year than I am about the offense. We saw what Allen did in his first year and yes we lose a lot of starters on defense so we will probably see some regression, but I don't expect it to go back to the early Wilson years. The offense makes me nervous because DeBord will still call the plays. The good news is we return everyone on the O-line and we have two good RB's in Ellison and Gest. WR's should be pretty skilled again with Westbrook, Hale, and Timian back. But the offense has to be a lot better and help out the defense; otherwise we will have a 3-4 win season and lose all momentum we had when Wilson left.

I don't see that happening unfortunately; Allen has given DeBord his vote of confidence multiple times throughout the season. The one thing I hope happens is Allen stops giving DeBord 100% control of the offense (or as he calls it, "head coach of the offense") and geta more involved in offensive play calling. Or maybe bring in a young offensive coordinator from a small program to "learn" under DeBord for a year or two (saying that tongue-in-cheek, he may be the one teaching DeBord some new tricks).

He was high on IU earlier in the year while he was committed to UCF. I don't know that we could convince him now that he has an offer from MSU as well. Sent from my Pixel using BtownBanners mobile app

Soooo yeah...Rutger comes to Bloomington for the last home game of the season. Looking at the statistics for both teams, we SHOULD win but you just never know (remember 2015?). We have no margin for error; we need to win out in order to be eligible for a bowl game. It is also senior day so it will be last day we see guys like Fant, Covington, Scales, Thomas, Cobbs (?) play at Memorial Stadium.
