The way I look at it, Ken St. needs to either go supernova from 3, force a ton of turnovers or some combination of the two to have a realistic chance to win. While that is possible, I don't think it is likely. Ultimately, Kent St. will have a lot more problems to deal with in guarding IU than IU will in guarding them. It's not a team that IU should take lightly but not a team to be feared either.

If Edey has to reach down, way down, to elbow his defender out of the way is it still a foul on his defender? Asking for FDU.

It'd be a much better something if they both lost their opening round games... preferably by double digits.

I trust the current staff. They've shown they are willing to give kids a chance but will cut ties when necessary. At the end of the day you kind of have to because chemistry can be just as much of an issue with incoming freshman as transfers so they're going to be making those decisions regardless. In some ways, I can see it being a little easier knowing what to expect with a transfer that has already played a year or more of college ball. I'm also not too worried about anyone corrupting freshman like Newton and especially Cupps.

Painter lost interest when Stuhoo said this kid was mobile. Painter prefers bigs best described as stationary but will occasionally accept one that is merely plodding.
-
Team chemistry is always a concern and IU definitely needs the right fit as well as talent but they need bodies. The spot is only a waste if we were to miss out on a better fit/talent for this upcoming year. Any that don't pan out won't be around to take up a scholarship for another year.
-
Leaving roster spots open was a silly idea when Archie tried it and it is an even sillier one now. They need to build a full team this year and rebuild it again next year as necessary. Decent transfers contribute more than all but the best freshman so it is going to take a mix of transfers and talented incoming freshman every year.

They are due for that kind of karma after almost everything possible has broken their way all year. They should have been the first 1 to lose to a 16 anyway back in 1996 when they beat Western Carolina by 2 with a lot of help from the refs.

IUBB 2023 B1G Tournament March 8-12, 2023

Hell, he's allowed to play with more physicality on offense than defenders are allowed to play with against him. I've never seen another player that is allowed to bulldoze, elbow, or shoulder the defender out of the way so much while also getting touch fouls called on the defenders. Then both he and Painter whine if the refs don't do everything possible to protect him. -

I couldn't agree more, especially the part in bold. JG doesn't seem to do well when his opponent is quicker than he is. He can play against bigger players, provided they are slow and plodding but can't handle anyone with speed. -
Missouri might as well get some buy out cash when a destination school comes calling.

Hopefully McNeeley is very receptive to those old man selfies because I'd love to see what Woody could do with a player as versatile as he is. TJD's development as well as that of JHS should help a lot.

Unfortunately, Princess Edith brought a strong whine game today and refs are are doing their best to keep Purdue in the game. -
From my couch it looks like the PSU is getting jobbed pretty badly. At this rate the whole team is going to foul out.

IMO, Reneau could probably develop into a somewhat effective wing but is a more natural 4 and would be better playing alongside a good shooting/scoring wing than being forced into that role himself.
-
Reneau is probably the answer for primary offensive output at the 5 next year but defensively we really need at least one of the 6'10"+ athletic, rim protector/rebounder types to pair with him.

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
hoosierbgh replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Predictable but still a joke. Edey improved significantly from last year but his B1G POY candidacy was mostly a product of the media narrative and it's clear none of the voter's actually looked at the stats. The DPOY result is almost worse. At least the Edey narrative is understandable. Audige and McConnell are fine defenders, if you discount their mauling of opponents, but no one fears them. More than once an IU opponent missed an open layup, shuffled their feet, or passed up a wide open shot for fear of being swatted by TJD. -
IUWBB 2023 B1G Tournament - March 1-5, 2023

Yeah, stupid announcers were talking about her tripping when it was clear in live action and every replay what actually happened. -
In high school Leal and Galloway were much closer together rankings and performance wise. However, IMO there's a bias against private school players when it comes to Mr. Basketball voting. Unless a private school player is head and shoulders above everyone else, they are unlikely to win Mr. Basketball.

A bit of karma perhaps for Arizona? Ballo looks incredibly healthy after leaving the game "injured" to avoid free throws late. After he returns to the game, he proceeds to launch an ASU player out of bounds for a rebound before being fouled and making one of two free throws, setting up the half court 3 from ASU for the win.
-
Bold strategy. One would think the presumptive BIG and National player of the year wouldn't get pulled at a critical juncture of the game or that pulling him wouldn't improve PU's chances.
