The famous Dirk saying to all rookies "i hope you know mandarin" . In recent years, it's been seen quite a few times where undrafted players land a role on a NBA team and shine. Case in point - Josh Richardson, Jamaychal Green, Sean Kilpatrick. It could happen for Troy.. all is takes is one team to like you.

(2016) PG Devonte Green to INDIANA
Trish replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm very excited for this kid. Throw 15 pounds on him and a summer working out under Crean, he will be alright. -
More than likely. Troy will go undrafted this June 23rd. He will play on the Pacers Summer League team this summer, perhaps another teams as well on the west coast. I then assume the Pacers will sign him for their D-League team, the Mad Ants. There, he will make 13K a year and live his "dream". Would help sell some tickets for Mad Ant games , that's for sure.

Rojo/Josh/Jones/Green James/Jones/Green/Gelon OG/James/Collin/Gelon/Freddie Collin/Davis/OG//Morgan/Freddie (deep, wow) Byrant/ Davis /OG/ Morgan/Priller Rojo and OG need 25-30 minutes, bottom line. We can't rely on Thomas to play big minutes since he's always in foul trouble by the 13 minute mark. OG at the four or five would be great for small ball. Josh and Jones will probably get around 15 minutes+ each game. Green will probably be the odd man out this year along with Gelon, although i believe Green could come in and provide instant offense and ball movement. Gelon and Priller will be our human cigars this year. Freddie is a mystery. We're very deep at the big guy position which is great. We just really need to stay healthy next year, having more depth this year will help that i hope. Wish we had a pure, experienced PG this year along with a wing who can score off the dribble. Let's see how Rojo and OG develop this summer.

I wish Troy the very best overseas! If you told Tom Crean eight weeks ago that he'd only lose one of the four players above, he'd have probably wrapped you in a bear hug. Thomas Bryant passed on the chance to be a first-round pick this year in hopes of emerging as a lottery pick next year. O.G. Anunoby didn't even flirt with turning pro even though he'd flashed enough raw potential to be a potential second-round flier. And James Blackmon wisely came back as well rather than risking going undrafted this June. The lone underclassman staying in the draft is Troy Williams, an undeniably talented wing who hasn't put it all together yet. Someone may select Williams in the second round because of his physical tools, but his wayward shot selection, frequent turnovers and inconsistency may also land him in the D-League next season. -YAHOO

Not surprised. About every student here knows hes not the smartest or nicest guy around Bloomington.
-
Troy is staying in the draft according to Indy star. Like I've said a million times, hope he took Chinese while at IU.
-
OG > Troy at this point, Upside of course. I would draft OG over Troy any day of the week.
-
We made 15 threes that game right? 15 threes is usually an IU win. However, UNC got a hold of MJ's juice. It's a shame. Damn Monstars. I think Yogi goes late second round. If not then, he will be a summer league pick up and will without a doubt be on a D-League team. His shooting, IQ, passing, quickness, and leadership skills should give him a serious consideration. I'd take him over lots of these guys and that's not just me being bias.LOL

My final input on this subject before they announce.. Troy is silly if he thinks he's ready for the NBA. He's no where near NBA ready. He has a questionable shot with a very low basketball IQ. I mean it in the nicest way, but he needs more development. How he's 21 and still has trouble dribbling the ball as a SF still boggles my mind. He just lacks the basketball fundamentals. Yes he can jump and shoot sometimes, but the NBA requires some basketball IQ. Right now, he's a euro-league player. If he wants to make europe money in a place away from his friends and family, so be it. Why not come back, get another year of "development" and exposure and up his chances of getting a guaranteed NBA contract next summer? He could easily take basic classes, party, and play basketball all for free. I find that more attractive than making money in Europe. According to his twitter, money doesn't motivate him... Bottom line, he should come back. NBA scouts all agree and i'm positive all NBA teams have told him the same the past two weeks. He's not even projected in draft lotto's. As for James Blackmon. He can score, no question about it. But can he move his feet laterally? Can he stay healthy? That's the big questions here. The NBA would love a player to score, but doesn't want to pay a player that can only play 20 games a year. He needs to get 100% healthy, develop his lateral quickness, defense, and scoring off the dribble ability and then maybe he can join the big boys. If he didn't have injury problems, he would easily be a mid second rounder this year, no doubt in my mind. They both should come back. I expect Troy to leave and be disappointed come June 25th (maybe not, i don't work for any NBA team) James will be back. We will know by tomorrow night!

That is true that he hasn't said anything. But then again, I haven't heard of him getting any NBA workouts in. But he is "quietly" back. He's not even near 2 Round material for the NBA right now. Not even D League.
-
Finally a non conference schedule worth looking forward to. Throw in Butler and a sold out game at IPFW.
-
Saw this coming in April.
-
We passed on him last year, why would we want him this year? He plays an old man game in a new league. West would eat him alive. Lakers will settle with Ben or Brandon.
-
Philly has nothing but a bunch of injury riddled big men, no thanks. I assume Sixers will take Simmons since Simmons has a close relationship to Ben and his father. Also, Ben could run PG for them, which they really need. Lakers would take Brandon, which is fine with me.
-
Boogie for #3 gives no value to the kings. Kings have the #8 pick. All players from 3-15 are pretty much the same role players.
-
Considering Larry's recent moves, anything is possible LOL
-
Celtics are moving that pick, no question about it. The drop off from Ben and Brandon is quite depressing. As a Laker fan, i sort of feel bad for the Celtics. They have eight picks to use this year and this years draft class is terrible. Lakers can't go wrong. We will take whoever is left, Brandon or Ben. Both are possible franchise players. D'Angelo Russell and Ben Simmons played on the same high team together. Won a national championship together. He's a huge Lakers fan. I assume Ben's agent will refuse workouts with the sixers.
-
THANK YOU NBA GODS! LAKERS WILL BE BACK. give us five years.
-
Troy has 10 workouts schedule. Has until the 24th or something to decide to stay in or not.
-
No need for NBA scouts. Any IU fan could tell you exactly why Troy is not an NBA player.
-
it's times like this where I can smile, being a lakers fan and all :)
-
13K a year with little to no chance to get a call up or free college with a chance to win a championship. The choice is too obvious
-
Albers lol Troy has workouts with Pacers Lakers and Clippers No offense, but I don't know why my Lakers would draft him.
-
Really excited to see what Green can do next year. As well as Jones. Not expecting much from Freddie or Gelon.
