  1. My guess would be that the reason we hadn't offered yet was that Archie didn't know if he would have a roster spot for him next year and has recently learned that he could, whether that means he now knows Brooks isn't coming or that somebody is going to transfer. I don't think a late offer should hurt us as I'm guessing the IU staff has been sold on him for a long time, but I guess we'll find out soon
  2. How is offering a top-60 guy a sign of desperation?
  3. Romeo's draft concerns have nothing to do with Archie and are all in his hands to fix. The biggest thing that will hold him back is his shooting. It's tough to be a 2 guard with a bad jumper. The fact that he's a bad shooter is not on Archie. If I was Romeo, and I was a projected lottery pick, I would be gone for sure. If he came back and became a 40% 3 point shooter, he'd be a top 5 pick for sure. But if he doesn't improve his 3 point shooting, his fall next year will be much greater than his fall from the beginning of this season until now.

  5. He had a bad TO. He and Romeo were also the reason we were in the game at the end. I'm not sure he was planning to go hero ball at the end. Juwan and Romeo stupidly brought their defenders to him which left him no choice. Romeo went hero ball on a 3 the possession before, which is a much worse play. Green is at least a decent shooter. Romeo is a better player, but a terrible shopter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. If he hurt the team so much, how did he lead the team in +/-? If he made as many bad plays as you seem to remember, it's strange that we outscored OSU when he was on the floor, but got outscored when he was off. I'm not even necessarily saying that he was good today, although I think he was pretty solid (he had 2 TOs, so yeah he led the team -tied for the lead actually- but 2 is not bad). But he was less had than the other options. Rob and Al were bad today. But Green is show still the one who is responsible for the loss... IU fans hate Green for some reason, and then they magnify every mistake. The reality is that he's a decent reserve guard, and he played like a pretty good reserve today, and the stats bear it out. 7. +/- is just a measure of how the team performs when a guy is on the floor. It's a statistical fact that the team played best today when Green was on the floor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. This board is blinded by Green hate. He had the best +/- on the team. The reason he couldn't pass on the last possession is because Juwan and Langford ran right at him and brought their defenders with him to trap instead of spreading the floor. That was on them, not Green Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Romeo and Juwan both ran at Green to bring all their defenders to him before the last shot [emoji2359] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Settling for a 3 is so bad from Romeo. Most athletic guy on the floor needs to get to the rim Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. [emoji849][emoji849] Green has the best +/- for the game and leads the team in assists... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I don't think he's a weakness in this game though. We need him to bang with Wesson Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Our guards have had about 5 wide open 3 opportunities so far that they haven't taken. Bigs don't hedge screens against us and guards often go under screens. If we can't make teams pay for that, and we haven't all season long, then we are going to continue to struggle Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I have no idea if Luke Brown is a viable Big 10 prospect. That said, a guy who can shoot lights out can be an asset in the right system, even if he's a bit of a liability on defense. Nick Zeisloft had defensive limitations, and there were games that he couldn't play because of it. But there were a lot of games that his ability to stretch the floor completely changed the game. Going further back, Jordy Hulls was a defensive liability, but elite shooters change the game. I would take a slow guy who could rain threes on this Indiana team right now. Athletes are great, and we obviously need them. But we're dealing with a team right now that is long on athletes and short on basketball skill. At some point you need shooters or else you end up with teams packing the lane like they are against us. Romeo would get an extra 5 points a game if the defense had to respect the 3 against us because it would open up the lane.
  15. I completely agree about Al and Rob. Al has come a long way in his shooting, even just over the course of this year. The next step is to be able to pull up better off the dribble and coming off screens. He's really good when set but adding that other dimension will elevate him. Considering how quickly he's progressed I think he'll do it.. Rob's shot is really fluid, and he just needs to spend hours in the gym shooting 3s. He's got great form and I think it's just a reps thing for him. We've seen him hit 3s coming off screens and he's able to pull up off the dribble, and he'll only get better at it. He's never going to be an elite athlete, but he can be a great college PG if he's a real outside threat. I could see him having a Joel Berry/Frank Mason type progression where he keeps getting better and is a star by his senior year, even though he probably doesn't have the traits to be an NBA player
  16. Juwan also seems incapable of staying out of foul trouble. He seems to miss time with fouls in nearly every game. Part of that is that he's having to play the 5 way too much, which is not his real position, but he needs to stay on the floor more. I think Al is becoming that leader, and is going to be a real one by the time he's done.
  17. If Green hit 3 3s, shot 50%, and led the team in assists, but did not play well, and we beat the #6 team on the road, who did? Morgan didn't play, and Romeo, while he hit some big shots, was a negative for about the first 35 minutes. Romeo was key down the stretch but not the reason it was close until then. A lot of guys played well yesterday, and Green was certainly one of them. His "embarrassing" defense kept the best player in the Big 10 in check. Both he and Phinisee had a good defensive game. Winston had 26 points but needed 22 shots. And Green added a block and a steal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. They're both valuable role players, but Crean just did a poor job of finding guys to play over them. If I remember correctly, Green was around 250 on recruiting rankings. That's a bench player, and he would be a nice piece off the bench. Smith was ranked higher, but he would be excellent as a 6th/7th man. Smith is also really hurt by our lack of shooting. He could score more just with his athleticism if the floor was more spread out. But as it is, he's having to take guys off the dribble and score with skill, and he's not there yet. If you put him on the team Yogi's senior season I think he would score a lot off of cuts and putbacks because the D had to focus so much on shooters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Agreed that it's not ideal, but in a game where Phinisee isn't giving you anything, I'm not sure we've got a better option. Green and Durham needed to be playing over him. Romeo makes just as many head scratching decisions, and Al is just not a good enough ball handler to consistently deal with the defensive pressure. He wasn't recruited as a PG, and it's pretty clear why. He has some PG skills and probably has the best court vision on the team, but he's too loose with the ball at times. He actually made the right decision on that step through, but was just too careless about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. That TO in the final minute was terrible, but I think we can put to rest this notion that the team doesn't need Green. We do not win that game without him and likely aren't close. He was good on offense and defense and held his own against the Big 10 MVP favorite. Winston had 26 points but needed 22 shots. Phinisee is definitely a more reliable player, but he's just not ready for the Big 10. Not surprising because he's a freshman, but he played 18 minutes with no points, no assists. The ceiling is much higher with Green, and hopefully he continues to play like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Green has probably been our best player today and people can't wait to hammer him for every mistake... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Playing like this without Morgan and Langford playing so badly is really encouraging. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Langford has taken some really bad outside shots early in the shot clock. A shooter that bad can't be forcing shots that early Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. That charge from Romeo is what happens when you don't have a reliable jump shot. Makes him easier to defend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Smith spends way too much time circling the 3 point line for somebody who is not an outside threat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
