  1. I’ll never understand why players try to hit the front of the rim straight on when trying to miss a free throw. They either accidentally go in or drop straight to the ground where the defenders have the advantage to rebound. All they have to do to miss on purpose is try to bank and aim so the center of the ball is over the far right or left part of the rim. Gives it a nice hard and high bounce off the rim to try to rebound.
  2. I’d say net gain, especially if you consider a full year of Race, as well. This is assuming Hunter is a full go.
  3. Those players are already immensely talented and they end up there due to World Wide Wes/Nike.
  4. In fairness to the students that rushed the court, what has IU done in their lifetime? It’s not a statement on them, but how our program has been over the last 20 years.
  5. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the arc only matters if you are a defender off the ball.
  6. Agreed. That’s why I’d love to know why the change occurred and who thought it was a good idea.
  7. Gotcha. It’s definitely not been Archie’s best year. I still love his potential. It’ll be interesting to see what he does to overhaul the roster this offseason.
  8. I think we can all agree Rob’s shooting motion changed drastically between his junior and senior seasons. Who made those changes? Archie? Rob? Someone else in Rob’s ear? We’ll never know unless someone asks Rob. Either way, he only had one good shooting year from three prior to the change.
  9. I didn’t see any mention of clock management and a foul to give in your post. You must have said that in a previous one. I only noticed this... ”We shoot like s—t from 3 and everyone beats us knowing that. They double team our bigs, Romeo gets picked up by every other defender on the court while usually being fouled. This game is much different in that the scenario to win was still there against Purdue. I believe a top level coach wins it in those scenarios.“
  10. Definitely agree the way we got Romeo the ball could have been better. Just don’t want people to think Archie wasn’t trying to get Romeo the ball.
  11. Definitely agree with you there.
  12. I’m confused. You say Romeo is getting fouled without it getting called, and we shoot poorly, but a top level coach could fix those things. That seems like issues with reffing and roster. Not sure a coach is the issue there. One requires the Big Ten to fix and the other requires a roster overhaul, which Archie will do this offseason.
  13. It looked like the play was designed to be a handoff to Romeo, but Romeo didn’t create space from Eastern. Romeo needed to jab-step to the baseline before running to the dribble handoff. Since Romeo didn’t set up Eastern to create any space, Juwan couldn’t safely do the handoff.
  14. I doubt he draws a foul on Haarms. When the double came, and it would’ve come, DeRon would dribble away towards the three point line like he did all game.
  15. I’m guessing he wasn’t in offensively because he struggled passing out of double teams tonight.
  16. If he was, you would’ve seen Haarms come out to screen for Carsen. Then you’d have DeRon on Carsen. That’s likely something Archie wanted to avoid happening.
  17. It’s still the same players. What did you expect? Justin Smith got less minutes and the team played with heart/energy for 40 minutes. That’s all I wanted to see. Anything else requires a roster overhaul.
  18. “Drastic changes” clearly meant Romeo playing hard on defense all possessions and Justin Smith getting limited minutes. I like it.
  19. I was watching when he said it. It was prompted by a promo for the IU/MSU right before. If I remember right, Schulman made a comment about MSU, and then a comment about IU losing seven straight. Then came Dakich’s comment.
  20. If this is purgatory, I’d hate to see Hell.
  21. Their returning players were coached well. Ours were coached by Crean.
