Game thread: 2/13 IU @ #4 OSU, Noon ESPN

Breathe on Hunter today and he'll lose his balance. Lander getting out and going already. He's got another gear. Our JR point guard has one mode and it's corpse mode -

Are his rebound stats inflated due to how many times he just chucks it off the backboard to himself and it's called a shot? My eyes tell me yes, but he is a very good rebounder, but not sure he's a Tristan Thompson type rebounder in the league as he's been compared to here. Trying to stay positive, but these starts to games are so frustrating yet so typical. -

Do players in the NBA miss as many layups as TJD does in college? I don't watch pro basketball, but he's got a long way to go if he's wanting to play in the league. My goodness -

If TJD doesn't jump when the ball is thrown, I may turn it off early and find something else to do. Please come out ready to play today Hoosiers! Just Win Baby! -
Definitely, but from my view we have plenty of guys who can do that already. What we don't have is someone who can consistently drill a 3. They'd probably sit a lot due to the defense but someone like Zeisloft or JBJ is what I can't understand about Archie's recruiting these past 4 seasons. The shooting woes are apparent to anyone who watches more than 5 games from IU - yet we can't seem to bring anyone into the program who has that skill set from the jump.

Yeah, his 29% 3PT% would fit right in. Getting pretty loose with the perimeter adjective there

Thank you so much! That does actually. According to this IU is ranked 297th in the country with our % of shots coming in transition at 19.8% and 207th in % on those shots in transition at 53.3%. For some perspective Gonzaga is 4th and 9th in those same statistics. I've bookmarked this site as I'm a bit of a stat nerd. Thanks again, love this already

Likely not the place for this question/post, but is anyone aware if NCAA or any site tracks Division 1 fast break points per game. I haven't been able to find anything at all on it and all I've found is the NBA stats. Been itching to know where we stack up. We play at a slower pace than say Gonzaga, but would love to know where we land in that stat. Edit: While there are plenty of issues and I fully realize this wouldn't instantly make us a top 10 team, I just can't help but wonder why we don't look for it. With how bad we can shoot it at times I'm baffled we don't look for it outside of maybe Lander

Curious if they'd considered playing their home games in Indiana. Could perhaps shuttle between South Bend and Valpo. Doubt they'll sit out the tournament but that's a long time to be idle then try and ramp up for an elimination tourney. Get to shake off some rust in the Big tourney but that's a few weeks out still. It's still college sports, but if Toronto Blue Jays played their home game in America, surely Michigan bball could figure out something. Hadn't been following this story, but that's a long time to not play any games

For this reason I'm left even more confounded why we don't get out and run more. We aren't very good from the FT line and even worse from 3pt range. We can struggle getting our shots to go down in traffic at the rim, so why not steal some points from the fast break? I can really only recall one instance early in the first half when Lander hit Franklin with a nice pass on the break for a layup. Didn't get to watch the second half as closely so not sure there we many chances there, but regardless we don't seem to have that as part of our game. Not sure if it's Archie or the players, but Lander seems to be the only one looking to do so, but he also plays with a different motor (fast and downhill) than our usual ball handlers. Just a bit puzzling to me
-
Might have been mistaken on who dunked it. But that was one pretty pass
-
Pretty nice assist to TJD though. That was pretty to give him a little credit and pump some

Can't seem to find anything, but I assume it's tracked. Would love to hear where IU ranks in fast break points a game. Watched a little Ark v Kentucky last night and I saw more fast break layups than I can remember from IU all season. To start the year the narrative was how different the offense was/would be. Competition has obviously increased, but it doesn't appear IU even looks to get out and run

Got lucky there. That was a shooting foul in my view

Another 5 extra minutes?!?! Put me out of my misery already lol. Decided to make dinner and maybe that’s what it took to turn the tides
-
It’s going to be incredibly depressing when we do hire a new coach and we have to discuss how empty the cupboard is - all after 3 straight Mr Basketballs from Indiana and likely would have been 4 if Lander played his senior year. I thought Archie would succeed here I really did but it’s not going to work here. High level recruits look at nights like this and I can’t imagine why they’d want any part of it. Absolutely no fast break chances and just a grind in the half court
-
5 more minutes of this?!?! Oh my goodness
-
Fantastic movie

At least we have high character kids, who cares if they can’t throw it in an ocean.
-
How on earth does Andy Katz have these Hoosiers as an 8 seed. When we suck, we go full suck
-
It’s just maddening. I don’t care if he had a good final minute or so to the Iowa game, it doesn’t excuse the other 38. And no showing has been more of the norm than the outlier this season. I’d just as soon see Lander, just keep the shooting to a minimum

Can almost guarantee Rob starts the second half - bigger question is will he make a positive contribution to the stat line. Is there a more disappointing player in the Big10?
-
A pity basket? Wonderful! Beat our 19pt first half against Texas. We scored 44 that game. We have a mark to beat. What an awful half of basketball from both teams
-
This is like watching the South Park baseball episode and watching both teams try to lose. Only thing missing is a drunk fan fighting someone in the stands, but it's early
-
Everyone not named Franklin and Al is a combined 1-13 from the field and 0-6 from the line. So ugly
