I haven't disagreed with many of your points, but I'd just say that I thought the process, or lack there of, of the last football HC hire was a terrible process and that's worked out quite well so far. No idea if Woodson will work or not, but I'm willing to let it play out for the same reason as I don't know who would have been a solid hire anymore. I was wrong on both Archie and Allen.

Crimson Quarry had discussed Woodson and Larry Brown for the IU job in an article on the 23rd, but my initial question was if Brown was show claused or not from his SMU tenure. After some quick Google-ing I didn't find anything, but I'm not sure IU and McRobbie would even entertain that after the Sampson stuff.

There’s absolutely no point in trying to dictate how people react to things. A gigantic waste of time and brain power - just my take on it. Am I thrilled? No, but I was wrong on Allen so this could work and I’d happily eat crow as would the rest of the bunch here that were against this move

Lot of talk about the assistants. I'm generally curious if Fife would be willing to leave his Associate HC role at Michigan State to join the staff. I'd love it if he would, but I'm not convinced he wouldn't wait out Izzo.

Devils advocate, but players don't exactly commit because of the assistant coaches unless your dad is the assistant - like at Oregon State and USC. Will Matta get Woodson's foot in the door? Certainly. But it's still on Woodson to land the player with his philosophy and sales pitch. With how wrong I was on the Allen hire, I'm willing to let this play out, but I don't think people are out of line to be disappointed.
