What would the score be between the 2021 Baylor Bears and the 2021 Indiana Hoosiers? Watching these guards from Baylor would have me turning that game off by the first TV timeout I'm thinking
-
I’d rather have Keion

I'm not so sure IU finishing 2nd or 3rd is a given. At least this past season's squad. I can't recall a more disappointing IU squad. They weren't expected to be conference champs or anything, but I surely didn't expect them to fold in games or quit to end the season like many, including me, think they did. I'm not saying Gonzaga would go undefeated if they were in the Big10, I'm just saying the've had a legit roster for at least the past 5 seasons. They've put Collins, Sabonis, Hachiamura, Clarke into the draft just in the past 3 or 4 drafts alone. I just think they'd hold their own. The conference they play in is not indicative to the talent they possess is my argument, which I guess everyone is more hung up on them potentially going undefeated. If the '76 doesn't care if the record is broken I don't think I should care much, but to each their own

PAC-10 I doubt would accept a basketball only school. I can’t recall which conference and school it was but when all the alignment stuff was happening years ago there was speculation about which schools couldn’t move where due to similar factors as Gonzaga (size and football)
-
The Gonzaga conference argument is played out. Yes they are only challenged by a BYU and occasionally a Saint Mary’s but a school without a football team isn’t going to be able to move to a better conference. Weak conference or not they’ve been legit for nearly a decade now. Routinely churning out pros, and they’d be a legit threat in any conference they’d play in if allowed to move freely but are just restricted due to their school size and lack of football

Joel Ajayi and Jalen Suggs. What a backcourt. It’s a guards game and IU needs better guards. Al Durham and Rob Phinisee aren’t going to cut whether it’s the WCC or the Big10
-
Amazing game. Unreal. Suggs - smh I wish we had someone like him or his clone
-
Wow Suggs is amazing. So strong defensively especially on the glass but he can really shoot it too

Ayaji played less minutes last year than Lander did this year as a redshirt freshman. He’s made quite the leap. I’d be ecstatic with that kind of jump from Lander. Ayaji shot 50% in his limited time so perhaps the bar was set higher after sitting out a year and only playing 5 minutes a game in 23 games his redshirt fr season but man he’s solid

I like the Zags but I really dislike the hook and hold rule. Not sure where it originated but players are going to constantly do it so it’s not as if it would prevent an injury, which I assume is why it was implemented.

Didn't think UCLA would be able to hang at this pace. I thought they needed to keep the game in the 60s or low 70s to stand a chance. What a good game so far. For the 100th time, I want IU to play the way Gonzaga plays. Suggs have a brother? ; )

"From Indiana" is the key thing though. Any player that has that billing is viewed in some sort of exalted light. People were so confident Archie would succeed as he prioritized Indiana in a way that Crean didn't, so he had to succeed because of it. It's a tiring read

Brooks have an outside shot at all? Haven't watched him too much at Kentucky, but can he step outside at all? From what I've seen he's pretty active on the glass

I don't listen to much pop music or what's current on the radio (I'm a metal fan so not much rap, pop or country played on my playlists) but did they really hire an artist only to sing one of her own songs out of a half dozen or so? Was more of a karaoke show to me. Miley can sing, but that was just weird
-
Very interesting. Where did you see that out of curiosity?

Is there a window for when these kids in the portal are expected to make a decision? With all that social media stuff, Stewart and Hunter, I'd hope we are the favorites for landing him? Sign me up for a new stud PG added to the mix.

How would we or any of the staff know what kind of a leap Lander would make next year by that same rationale? I'm confident that he can improve, but I'm convinced a lot of people, including yourself, have latched on to that recruiting ranking and Phin's disappointments and have anointed Lander as the answer. Maybe this was one of your trolling moments, but you were demanding an apology from anyone critical of Lander after a pretty pocket pass in a game he went 0 points 1 rebound and 3 assists.
-
That's fine, but the statement was phrased in the present tense. I'm by no means a Phinisee fan, as I've been very clear on this board many a times, but there's a reason Lander only played 10 minutes a game this season. In nearly every statistic Phinisee has shown to be more effective. Can Lander become a better PG in the future that what Phinisee has been, I'm sure of it, but to say he should without a doubt be the starting PG over a SR Phinisee is a stretch. He needs a complete overhaul of his shot, needs far better decision making with the basketball and a big part of him only seeing 10 minutes a game is that his defense was no where close to being ready for major minutes in the Big10. The only thing I would take from his game over Phinisee currently is the speed at which he plays and that's because Phin sets the bar so low in that regard.

By what metric are you basing this off of? Recruiting ranking?

Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
kreigh8 replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thank you. I went hunting for it last night through Google search and saw his Facebook page had a comment that he said Matta is not part of MW's staff but Dolson's staff so he'd have little impact on recruiting and play. I don't think that that is too out of line, so was trying to figure where the outrage here was coming from. I'm no DD fan, but that FB comment wasn't too outrageous to me. -

Without scrolling through 111 pages, can some give me an idea of the negative comments that Dakich had on the Matta portion of this hire? I saw it mentioned, but don't think I ever saw the exact statements -
Just watch how quick they get the ball across the half court - I'm not asking to score 90 a game year 1, but surely they can stop walking the ball up the court and have a sense of urgency in getting into an offense or heaven forbid get out in transition.

I love watching the way Gonzaga plays. I hope Mike Woodson can bring this kind of offense to the IU squad next season. Phinisee and Lander should be taking notes from Suggs on how to play the PG position
