  1. Drink’s agent is The Man. This is the 4th extension in his 6 years based on 2 very good years, 1 ok year and 3 thoroughly unremarkable ones. And he also pulled one of the all time agent okey dokes by convincing the Mizzou money guys that Drink was THIS CLOSE to taking the LSU gig in ‘21 when anyone with enough sense to get out of the rain knew that was nuts. I imagine he was able to leverage Penn St the same way.
  2. In the annals of terrible coaching hires at the highest of high majors, football or basketball, is this the worst? I mean, short of a Kelvin Sampson/IUBB sort of situation. They hired a total cultural misfit who was already 60. The previous 4 years they went 36-15 and won a Natty. In his time they were 34-14 and never finished top 10. They paid the dude NINETY MILLION DOLLARS to get no better and look like utter freaking buffoons at the end of it. Are you kidding me? And you knew it was never going to. At least when Woodward hired Fisher at A&M you could understand the fit. But Brian Kelly and LSU football was absurd on its face. I mean, Jesus.
  3. Yeah there’s a fair bit of that, though it looks different because Wabbington looks like an athlete and Queen looks like Queen. But a lot of what’s getting done is pretty similar. Side note: this game speaks to what a phenom Koa Peat was in HS. He won either 2 or 3 state championships there and 1st year without him they lost this one at home by 30 and Sunnyslope pulled their starters in the 3rd.
  4. This one was so surprising to hear and I never thought was a thing that I was forced to break out Wabbington’s game from last night against Perry HS, Koa Peat’s old school. Not that you didn’t know he was good, but he’s a really fun watch. Strong frame, particularly lower body. Not very vertically explosive but otherwise a very good athlete. Really fluid. Can move his feet and change direction like a smaller kid. As a scorer he plays a pretty traditional post game with the exception that he can really pass. I mean, really pass. Made 1 where he caught it with his back to the basket in the right mid post, felt a double coming from the top, spun to the baseline and fired a laser to the left corner for a 3. Not many HS bigs making that one. Watched it a couple of times. Found a couple of cutters in very small windows. Looks like a very quick processor for a big kid. Will definitely keep paying attention.
  5. That is legitimately as good as you can reasonably do it.
  6. I’m pretty shocked that they didn’t. Saw that thing from the AD about Pittman not having adequate resources to compete in the SEC and couldn’t really fathom that.
  7. Well that’s a pretty good line
  8. Ok, help an old dude out. I looked at 1 Diego Pavia for the Heisman thread on Sunday and made the mistake of replying. Elon’s algo took over and now my timeline is just a tsunami of all things Vandy football. I wouldn’t even mind it all that much except that they are straight up exceptionally whiney bitche$. Actually worse than most SEC fanbases. How do I get out of this?
  9. Think someone might have mentioned to Conerway a couple of times this week that Haggerty is supposed to be a Guy?
  10. God, the ticket prices for tonight are killing me. If I was maybe an hour closer I’d probably pull the trigger. Just a hair out of range.
  11. Holloway beating Will Wade does the old heart a world of good.
  12. How did Najai Hines look? Liked that kid so much last summer.
  13. Under the heading of making lemons into lemonade, looks like I may need to get a knee replaced. Trying my level best to arrange to get it done the last week of the regular season and then taking a leave through Championship week and the tournament. Textbook best case scenario.
  14. RIP to Jimmy Cliff. One of the great Reggae/Soul artists ever.
  15. Ugh. Pitt lost at home to Quinnipiac by 8. So Pitt now has a 20 pt loss at West Virginia , a 10 point neutral court loss to UCF and an 8 point buy game loss to a MAAC school and has Ohio State and Texas A&M up next. In the last 10 years Jeff Capel has made the Tournament once. I’m guessing he’s dodged his last bullet.
  16. Justin Wilcox out at Cal. Given what a lousy situation Cal’s in I really don’t understand what their expectations are. Seems to me the guy did pretty well. I really don’t know who’s gonna want that job who’ll be an upgrade.
  17. Collins found the on switch for that kid. Looks like a totally different player.
  18. If Chesney moves up JMU seems too obvious not to happen.
  19. Hope that’s true. Not saying he’s them, but if Smart’s1st gig can be UGA and Bob Stoops could be OU Haines has no business having to start at, ya know, a Ball State. Dude’s earned better.
  20. Been trying to figure out all year why Haines isn’t the hot coordinator HC candidate this cycle other than still fighting brand bias. I mean, the 41yo DC of the undefeated #2 team who’s been kicking everyone’s a$$ all year were he doing so at, say, Michigan would be up for a really good gig this cycle.
  21. I hope so because I doubt he’s going anywhere, though I really like Carlie and she seems to not mess around. But I worked for a guy about a hundred years ago who said that if you see a coaching staff standing around and you can’t tell who the HC is without asking then they don’t have one. Have never forgotten that.
  22. Yeah, but they have to be pleased with 3 loss Texas giving up 37 at home to a 2-8 team with no HC and moving up a spot. That’s the SEC home cookin’ they’re accustomed to!
  23. The Colts are gonna win the division because it’s bad, but I’m gonna predict right now that they’ll never win anything significant with Steichen. As a Head Coach he’s an ok Offensive Coordinator, though any game where Alec Ogletree has as many targets as Alec Pierce needs to be seriously, seriously questioned. And watching KC just strangle them in the 2nd half. Playing 10 within 5 yds of the LOS and never backing up and them never trying to stretch them at all. Jesus. But that’s not it. The guy’s just not a leader. Watching him interact with players, anytime he’s making public pronouncements, any video of him interacting in the Colts complex, he looks like a kid wearing dad’s suit. The role’s too big for him. I’ll be happy to be wrong but I don’t believe in the guy in any way.
  24. I assume broadcast teams debrief after games, right? Honest to God, how is Romo not humiliated listening to his embarrassing glazing of Mahomes after every Chiefs game they do? I’ve never even heard a local broadcast team as nakedly partisan as he is. Does Nantz never side eye him?
