  1. So, Harvard to USC Amaker to Muss Yeah, ok.
  2. Thank you. Scrolling, wow, what a good idea. Oh the winner there is Indiana Elite Prep. I remember reading about that somewhere and I think that deal is some kind of scam. But if it is legit it’s supposedly like northwest of Indy somewhere. Zionsville or something like that.
  3. You’re looking at something more useful than I am. I was just going through the schedule on their website and it only has something like 15 games. And I was looking for game times by reverse engineering and looking at the schedules of the teams on theirs and the 1st 4 I looked at didn’t show them at all. If I didn’t know they were legit I would swear that they weren’t.
  4. That would explain it. Looked at their schedule at 1 point and it looks like they don’t travel. Chicago area and Lake County exclusively, at least the schools I knew. They do play Lalu. There’s got to be a stream game somewhere coming up. Can’t lie, pretty curious here.
  5. So it is an actual brick and mortar school? Good to know because in the couple of games I could find on YouTube they were playing in what looked like maybe a Rec Center. Appreciate you digging into this. Can’t lie, I am always a sucker for mystery kids.
  6. Yes they are. They’re one of the surest things in the country. They just show up and handle business. And Crean’s gotta love’em. They get so many deflections/steals. I’m a big fan.
  7. Interesting question came up today courtesy of KEXP in Seattle which I’ll listen to in the office sometimes. What’s the most memorable live version of a song you’ve ever heard? Thought, wow, tough question. Then it took about 30 seconds. Saw Gary Moore do a club show in maybe 95 or 96 and he was the most note perfect player I’ve ever heard live. It was a freaking privilege to see that guy. He did Still Got the Blues and had extended it out to maybe 10mins courtesy of this incredible extended outro and it was mind-blowing, Obvious question: What’s the most memorable live version of a song you’ve ever heard?
  8. Done deal. Sorry, Kirby.
  9. Gotta happen. Not really sure what the argument against is.
  10. Wes Miller is my Brad Stevens. I would’ve hired him when they hired Woody and I would have seriously considered him when they hired Archie. Great still-young coach and I love his temperament for the job. He solves your issue for 25 years.
  11. Yeah, their AD has a reputation for really tying his guys up. Read somewhere that Matt Campbell’s most recent extension makes him basically un-poachable.
  12. 1. Wes Miller- Can almost certainly be had 2) Shrewsberry- Can probably be had 3) Otzelberger- Can probably not be had
  13. Yup, and I really, really hope that the decision makers have the appropriate understanding that some jobs are just different and being a smart, hard-working X’s and O’s guy is miles from the whole deal here. Pope absolutely gets it and if they’re 3-7 in the SEC and he starts catching some crap he’s gonna be ready for it. But I keep thinking about Archie’s intro presser and he looked like it had just hit him and he appeared spooked and he just looked too small for the job. For all the criticism of Woody’s arrogance, if you take this job your ego better be bullet-proof.
  14. The Man Comes Around! And I think it absolutely has.
  15. It's got to be kind of a weird mental place to be in to be a guy with a chip on his shoulder the size of Stonehenge and who desperately wants to stick his finger in everybody's eye but then doesn't actually want to take the steps necessary to do that. Would love to see him be able to rationalize stepping away of purely his own accord, for simplicity's sake, but I don't really see how that happens.
  16. Yeah, for any issues we may have with the current staff, there are no McLeod’s on it.
  17. Love it. What I do remember is that after he was offered the only thing I could find was 1 video of an individual workout in an empty gym. Hell, by comparison Harper’s positively over-exposed.
  18. Actually, and we’ll see how recruiting addicted some are around here, the name that came to mind for me here was David Williams. He was an unknown 6’7” lefty from Florida who CTC offered way back in the day and then we never heard of him again. I don’t even know where he went to school.
  19. It’ll always make me nuts the way a kid who’s a pretty good athlete with really good feet doesn’t maintain knee bend and can’t keep his weight centered. Again, coaching problem. Total side note: Am I the only one who really liked that uni for the girls but didn’t like it for the guys? No idea why.
  20. Yeah, he’s got physical limitations and if they really want to get him small ball 4 minutes in the B1G it damned well better be with Ballo and not Reneau. Every time he drops that Reneau/Goode/Tucker front line I just have this vision of UM playing absolute volleyball on the boards against them.
  21. Goode brings value whether he’s making shots or not and if you don’t see that I would question if you know what you’re watching. In fact, what Hatton and Goode contributed today really pi$$ed me off because they’re well-coached and they didn’t get that here. Example: When Hatton was guarding high ball screen actions he took 1 jab step out from the screen before he dropped forcing the ball handler to take 1 more dibble before trying to get downhill and giving his primary 1 more step to recover. He didn’t learn that at IU because Woody doesn’t teach it. If Reneau played it that way it would probably save him a foul a game. He also managed 3 blocks despite being completely landlocked because he’s been taught to reach for the lights when he contests at the rim and so he forces adjustments by guards to finish but he’s not going after every driver from every angle so he’s not putting them into forced rotation the way Ballo does. Again, that’s how he’s been coached, and not here. And watching Goode hunt and fill crack after crack and have himself in perfect shooting position at all times in comparison to Mgbako just hanging out waiting for ball reversal with no prep other than putting his hands up made me want to throw my drink at the screen. Yet again, 1 of them has been really well-coached and knows how to play and 1 of them is just really talented and waits to be fed. This game really got to me because those Winthrop kids absolutely understood their gameplan and what they were attacking and there way too many possesssions where IU flat didn’t.
  22. Might be the most underrrated player in the entire country. Will never get his due because Penn St is such an outpost, but he controls games like very few kids.
  23. I love Thornton. That kid is such a warrior. Both ends. Would take him over Smith without a thought.
  24. God knows this is fair criticism of Woody, it’s the thing that pi$$es me off the worst about him, but not in this specific case. There’s a reason Reynolds has a shockingly weak offer list. Izzo and Underwood never bothered to offer him. He was supposed to visit Dusty a few months ago and then cancelled. Shrew’s 15 mins from him and barely pays attention to him. No one thinks he’s going anywhere but Purdue.
