  1. That is certainly a take. The problem isn’t us, we are the rubes who still spend outrageous amounts of money on a program that’s been mostly .500 in the B1G for half of my lifetime. If you’re saying the standards are too high, that’s almost something I can agree with. I’m not what I would consider old or young, but I’m nearly forty and I wasn’t alive when all those guys played for IU and hung banners. I know them in the abstract as legends, I know them in reality as failed NBA coaches or front office. Or in Isaiah’s case a guy who MJ disliked so much he wasn’t on the dream team which was coached by his former head coach. That kind of thing doesn’t happen in a vacuum either. People don’t get blind respect from me. Past actions do not allow for blanket support in the face of detrimental program decisions. And CMW and QB are clearly making decisions at the detriment of IU basketball— the program is more important to me than the feelings or status of people that played there in the past. And right now? Those two are bigger than the program. Decisions aren’t being made for winning basketball, they’re being made to allow for as another poster stated— a vanity project. And that deserves all the criticism they get.
  2. Dolson: "Tom, if I do this, it is with the understanding that you will get pants and a belt that fit properly."
  3. If Kentucky actually ponied up and fired Cal, we would finally know if Jay Wright will ever coach again because I am guessing they would offer him a godfather deal and make him turn it down. 100 Million dollars can change a mind lol.
  4. I never thought he was leaving unless he really wanted to be on a good team. There isn’t an offense in the country where he’d get more touches or a bigger green light than IU. I actually think him staying makes Woodys portal needs more difficult. His defense, foul problems, and rebounding are such a net negative Woody has to find pieces to make up for them. The offense is good, but he’s also a ball stopper. How many times did he try to split double teams instead of finding an open shooter. Malik back basically guarantees the offense is going to be more of the same. He is a catch-22 as a player for us. Woody needs an NBA caliber forward/center to play along side him. Not an impossible find, but also not likely. I don’t trust Woody to try and go smaller for a large part of the season. Which would require a starter level 3. The roster is a mess.
  5. If FAU beats UCONN 1,000 pages is going to seem like a distant memory lol
  6. I was referring to people who would mention it on a forum or use it in an argument. I couldn’t make money on a podcast, but I have zero eligibility remaining in a sport. I would say they all played at a high enough level to support a podcast, it was at least high enough to coach.
  7. People that played at a “high level” don’t talk about it. Unless they played at a high enough level to support a podcast.
  8. I bet we wouldn’t be last in the B1G in FT% at least.
  9. I think he truly looks at it like a business no different than the NBA. I doubt he sees high school recruiting the way most coaches do.
  10. What the hell is “sports media press?” Lol, we really pumping out propaganda pieces on fringe media sites now to justify his existence as head coach? This is embarrassing.
  11. This is my thinking, spring Creaning because given everything we have heard from Woody I think he genuinely believes he can rebuild the roster buying better players and be successful next season. We are like three weeks removed from the "inside-out" comment and a couple from "I have done my job" and one from "not enough talent." Cognitive dissonance is helluva drug.
  12. I just hope everyone has fun.
  13. Assuming Ware to NBA that brings us to 7 open I think.
  14. So the #6 overall and #1 SG is already off the board (current portal dudes). Hot start here.
  15. He has been posting IU centric stuff in his IG stories, could be nothing, but it seems like most of the time these guys go radio silent when plans are to leave. I know nothing, just happened to notice, and he didnt post much during the season as I recall.
  16. Ahh yes, as my friend in Little Rock calls it, Pulling a Mussleman.
  17. I think he might be his cousin. His Uncle is named Darius.
  18. Tyson Acuff just jumped. 6-4 CG. 22 points a game at EMU. Bad team, but hes a scorer. Only 30% from 3 but huge volume he wouldn't have to shoot at IU. Good FT shooter.
  19. This is my biggest fear for Team Portal. It would seem most of the guys we need/want will probably only have one year eligibility remaining or are only looking for one high major season of production to get drafted (Ware). This roster is going to be in almost the exact same position next March, and most likely with a new coach. Even if Woody pulls a rabbit out of his hat and makes the tournament and gets another year, HS recruiting is still going to be broken. It is really the most insane portion of this whole thing and keeping him.
  20. Is something like this collective based/run? This seems more in the "spirit" of what NIL was supposed to entail, at least to me. Company makes licensed products, uses the players NIL to sell them, and kick back some profit. https://indiana.nil.store/collections/mens-basketball
  21. Except all of that assumes competition. If we (I am talking about the royal we, IU), set the value at a level where there is no competition for the services of the player we are making up the market value to our own ends. IMO, keeping a roster as intact as possible whether said player actually fills a need. The players aren't taking advantage of the market, they're taking advantage of IU because IU is desperate for players/continuity. Again, I do not have a problem with it, if IU is dumb enough to overpay to keep some semblance of the 23-24 roster intact, the players can and should take advantage of that.
  22. I'll bite lol, except that "free-market" isn't determining the value of Leal, Banks or Gunn. We are. We are setting a market price that no one will come close to meeting. It is like giving a coach no one else wants a 1 million dollar raise for mediocre results.. Otherwise, I completely agree with you. On a personal level, if IU is dumb enough to give a guy who barely plays six figures, I am not going to fault the player, in fact, I would support them-- get that money. It is the program that is at fault.
  23. I regret that I have but one like to give for the cabbage. Bravo.
