Yea I’ve been in the camp that CM is hurting us more than he’s helping for a while. Adding muscle to shooters is not a good thing and we seem to celebrate him getting people shredded. And our conditioning has clearly been poor for several years. I also don’t think Woody is hard on anyone in practice, lazy practice=lazy games.

This is a really good point and being overlooked in all of this. As toxic as last season was, this was a MASSIVE gamble by the money people and those actually pulling the strings. I’ve really flipped on Dolson. It’s obvious with the way he handled Allen and Cignetti and the Cignetti contract, he is or was simply neutered when it came to basketball after Archie. After a small sample size, it’s obvious that a Mike Woodson team is a Mike Woodson team regardless of talent level (shocker for us, I know). If we come out of non-con with one P4 win in USCe, our tournament hopes are in big, big trouble. This leaves zero room for error in the B1G season, and this is a coach who lost by 27 to to Nebraska.

I think what’s driving me the most bonkers isn’t the loss, it’s that nothing about this game was a surprise or new. It’s what the not true fans have been screeching about. Losses like this are inexcusable at IU and Woody has like a half dozen of them. I’ll say this as well. This better be the end of the coaches need four years worldview at IU. With the portal and NIL, there are zero reasons to give a third or fourth year to a bad coach. None. Money will bring in players, coaches at IU don’t even need to be high level recruiters to get talent. Watching this absolute debacle all over again today feels like I’m taking crazy pills. The important people at IU saw what we saw the last three years, the building issues and thought, let’s not move on, let’s give him a blank check. If it wasn’t for NIL this has program killer vibes. Ten years ago this type of season and the toxicity around the team and high school recruiting would have set us back years.
