To be fair, Woody has a 22 Point loss at home to Iowa with a lottery pick and the NPOY runner up, so, no, I probably wouldn’t panic over a 2 point win in year 1.

This also made it really hard for me to root for a MW team. I could probably never get to rooting for losses, but I can’t make myself care about any winning this team does until he’s gone. I’ll watch the games when I can but it isn’t appointment viewing anymore like it’s been for me for 20+ years. Apathy. Our body of work so far means we are going to have to win multiple road games and finish the B1G with 13+ wins to even sniff the bubble, which, LOL.

Asking a bunch of silly questions isn’t disagreeing, it’s being purposely obtuse when he was clearly just joking around. Anytime someone uses the “more about you” trope in a disagreement it’s a pretty safe bet they don’t have an actual argument or thought .It’s so low effort, as most of your devils advocate unanswerable questions are. Yes he won 400 games as a head coach. He also lost over 300. This is sorta what I meant when I said rose colored glasses. I’d take Crean 10/10 over woody though lol

NIL aside, Crean was not what I would consider a good coach. Better than Woody, sure. Better than Archie, no question. Crean finished his career at UGA 25 games below .500 in SEC play. He somehow managed to miss the tournament and only go 16-16 with Anthony Fn Edwards. I think Woody has people looking at Crean with rose colored glasses. Anywho, fire Mike Woodson.

QB probably also didn't anticipate Cignetti going 11-1, turning us into a football school, and making basketball irrelevant well into December lol. I, for one, am far less angsty about us being mediocre at basketball this year with highly relevant football left to play.

Money will not be an object this time. Obviously Woody was a QB vanity hire. I am now firmly in the camp now that Dolson had little control over that one. That being said, any conjecture about what ifs or the past are irrelevant to me. I want the best possible coach that understands the following: 1. The disappointment and angst from fans of my generation (those being the too young to remember the last title group). 2. The expectations from the generation of fans that got to experience IU at the top of the sport. 3. Modern basketball, I see no reason why IU cannot play like an SEC team in the B1G. Get the athletes of an Auburn, profit. 4. Commitment to balanced high school recruiting nationwide (Indiana kids if they fit the system, but this means little to me) combined with robust portal work to fill holes. I don't like or think turning over like 5+ transfers is a recipe to long term success, and March has shown that less a couple outliers. 5. B1G championships are cool, but I care about March. That should be the focus. Building a roster to compete in March.

Dusty has moved to 1 for me. While I think we will see BS on the sideline again, I just do not believe it will be in college. This is looking like a colossal mistake bringing Woody back for a fourth season and letting Dusty go to a conference rival. Dusty looks like the coach we thought he probably was based on the FAU production. I know you and I talked about it like 900 pages ago (LOL) but winning at FAU is absurd. That was one of the worst jobs in the country. Maybe UM would not commit the money needed, and from a transfer perspective IU is certainly more attractive, but if this is Woody's last year I would be really surprised to see DM leave UM after one season. Which makes the next hire even more important since we have a four years minimum precedent set here. Hope I am wrong, but the early returns look like Dusty is the real deal and we missed a golden opportunity. Maybe the next guy is THE guy, but if he isn't and Dusty has a school with infinity money rolling into year 5, I do not think it is the slam dunk he will come home that some do.

Yea I don't buy this either, money talks in this era. No one chose to come to IU in the offseason because MW is a good coach. Maybe if you squint and assume players are giving Woody credit for the development of TJD and to a lesser extent KW (which I doubt) I could see Ballo making that decision. We didn't get a couple of the best guards in the portal because we play a sweet guard-centric offense. We got them because we could offer known P4 entities more money than freshmen 5* guards. When getting equal money, the high school guards are consistently not choosing IU (really all high school recruits, but I digress). IU will get players, period. Especially in this era. Add in the right scheme/coach to that? Our recruiting would be nuclear IMO.
