  1. If crean, whom a large percentage of the iu faithful are unhappy with is keeping revenue in a good place, he cannot be dumb enough not to realize the potential if he found someone the fanbase was ecstatic about. There can always be more.. and as far as other sports go, there has been a TON of turnover and mediocrity at the coaching level Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  2. That seems pretty close to the truth but what they wouldn't be taking into consideration is the longterm damage. Short term, the love, excitement, viewing, ticket and apparel sales etc will be strong but all that will erode over time. We are going to wake up in 20 years and will officially be Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa where the fans only care and show up when there is a big game or the team is decent that year. It's heading there, just taking a while to slowly drain every ounce of love and interest out of this fanbase that took 70 years to build Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  3. I don't think anyone here is expecting a championship or final four in the coaches first year, haven't heard anyone say that. They would expect a final four in the coaches first 9 seasons though and I don't think that is an unreasonable expectation at all Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  4. Those are historically the best and most accurate Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. I'm guessing you're exaggerating for affect but in all seriousness, I think there are at least 30 coaches that are at Crean's level or better. Yes, guaranteed home run like Donovan, Stevens, Wright would be ideal but not our only options. There are at least 30 guys that can do as well with way more upside Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Can't imagine it not being a factor. Crean lost 40% of the starting lineup to season ending injuries. While it shouldn't be a factor when looking at the bigger picture, it will be considered when looking at this particular season, it has to. 40% of the starting lineup + other injuries that have kept key players out is not something to ignore Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Tournament, no tournament will likely be the swinging pendulum for whether he stays or goes. If he squeaks in, even as a 10 seed and loses in the first round, I think he stays. If we don't make the tourney and maybe not even make the NIT, I think the pressure will be too much for him not to be sent packing Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. Still think Jay Wright is the home run hire we should be going after. Donovan and Stevens are great but jay is still in college and at a lesser school historically Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Yep, thank goodness we got the 2nd best player on that team! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  11. Tough not seeing IU commits/targets in these games
  12. the list is short of who wouldn't take the job. Those concerned we can't do better need not worry.
  13. Holtmann building a stronger resume by the day
  14. idk, guys like Alford didn't play great D for knight either. Blackmon would have likely been used in an Alford way coming off screens for jump shots and playing avg defense.
  15. I still can't tell whether you are kidding or not... Hope you are kidding
  16. true but two wrongs don't make a right. Both should have been suspended
  17. Not many people have mentioned Jay Wright as a potential candidate. Not saying it hasn't been thrown out on here but it isn't one that is mentioned much I at all and I'm curious why? Could be on his way to 4 straight conference championships and has been passed the s16 3 times with a title. He's 55 but if he wanted to coach another 10+ years I think he could be great. Not to mention we could pay him way more - only making $2.2mm
  18. Have you ever seen IU go for the 2 for 1 under Crean?
  19. agreed sans the comment about the bigten championship, schedule or no schedule it was great to see and never easy. But, what did we do in the bigten tourney? Same as always under Crean. His bigten tourney record is disgusting to say the least and that negatively impacts our seeding and momentum going into the big dance
  20. did the players like and respect him? Got the sense that he clashed with a fewEdit: also, hard for him to preach D when he didn't play much of it for 3 years and also hard for him to preach staying out of trouble when he was out at bars with a fake
  21. Pretty impressive video. Lots of movement and action off the ball. Wish we could run these types of plays for Blackmon and Davis
  22. dont have any reason to believe there is anything to it regarding Stevens BUT IF Stevens did have a clause in his contract for IU and IU wrote a contract to align with Stevens nba season, that is crazy!
  23. Could not disagree more. His time at Marquette and Indiana has been marred by transfers. A transfer means there is not a good fit. Sometimes Crean comes to that conclusion and sometimes the player does and sometimes it's mutual. His shotgun approach to recruiting, promises, conduct, poorly constructed teams etc all play a part in kids leaving whether they want to or not. Rarely do you have a kid transfer with a smile on his face and all the friends, family, AAU coaches, high school coaches all feeling great about the situation. In many cases they feel disappointed, angry, mislead. This sentiment permeates throughout the state and impacts relationships and recruiting. It is a huge black eye on Crean and subsequently IU. It's damaging
  24. There wouldn't be enough time left for the Mc's to get on the floor then, and gotta find time for them and maybe even at the same time during crunch time
