Kidding, these types of "I know something" teasers are kind of boggling. Say it or don't. Why start a new thread with "plot thickens" but nothing further? I don't get it Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I agree with this in general but many people overstate what he did as if he took over a charity case. He took over a head coaching job at a blue blood program making $3mm +. He also could have made the rebuild less of a rebuild. He inherited some really soft sanctions and a team with bad grades. He chose to completely overhaul he team and start with a team of walk-one. There were salvageable pieces on that team and he either forced them out or they left because they didn't want to play for him. There was no reason we had to be so bad for 3 years, that was on him. I too want this to end and end amicably and I wish him and his family well but we as fans and the school don't owe him anything beyond an additional $4mm and even that is insane. We should treat him and his family with dignity on the way out but the shitstorm he was in and stayed in was partially his own doing and other coaches in similar positions were able to recover quicker. Not a rant towards you, just have heard over and over for years how grateful we should be for the rebuild work... I just don't see it that way Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Why are dakich and the other guy talking about IU and the NCAA tourney? Over and over? Haven't heard them mention Crean/hot seat/replacements etc. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Well, it's probably nothing new. I wish I understood it better myself and because the info comes from an IU insider to a family member and then to me it's a little bit of telephone. But, as far as I understand it, whether it's a formal committee or not I don't know but there are trusted people associated with the school that are asked to weigh in on hires and even sit down with them to meet them/vet them and then they give their opinion on said hire. This source was asked to play that role in previous basketball hirings and has said Crean had played that role in some administrations hirings. I don't know if that means Glass or others but apparently Crean vouched for some of these people that now have his job in their hands so it is a bit of a tangled web. Doesn't mean they won't pull the trigger but it might make them more hesitant for loyalty sake. Just my second hand info/take. Nothing too enlightening here. What I heard today would make one question it. Crean and Glass are petty close and Crean was also on the committee of advisors that brought in some of the administration that would also need to be involved in the firing. He is very closely tied to these people and that makes some, even some close to the situation take pause as to whether they will actually follow through and fire him Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

It's kind of a prerequisite these days. In that same vein Someone mentioned Chris Reynolds as a Glass replacement some day Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I've seen others post this as a positive before but this seems like more of a red flag to me than a positive. Why did he have a high school size roster? Injuries perhaps? Give me a break! If crean ever had a starting lineup, let alone an entire roster with nobody over 6'6"people would be pissed including myself for poor roster management Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I wouldn't mind Archie, I think he would do well here but take a look at a guy like Altman and what he's done at Oregon and I am personally more impressed with what he's doing. Jay Wright is my number one above anyone else, but a guy like Altman would be awesome here. If he stays at Oregon for the longterm I think he could be a perennial top ten team and I just don't see Archie ever being that at Dayton Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

More than Jay Wright? More than Dana Altman? Even Enfield and holtmann seems like a better option Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Crean has sucked the life out of this fanbase. There are plenty of upgrades out there and Glass needs to secure one of them asap. I will be so pissed if he gets an extension, he continues to shit the bed and then when we finally go to make a change we are the 2nd or 3rd best option for coaches that given year due to coach K, Williams etc etc moving on. If we make a move this year we will most definitely be the most sought after college job available Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Glass, make it stop so we can go back to enjoying IU basketball again. This has been a complete disaster Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

My god, then maybe he should focus more on recruiting high IQ basketball players than athletes he can't teach and needs to use traffic signs for. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Let's get him to #1 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I certainly agree with the later point. We should never be an underdog to Northwestern, especially +7.5 is what I saw earlier Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

He chose his family over a career at a place that scorned his family, not that messed up, it shows he is loyal Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

What is it about Missouri that would make Crean a shoe in to make the tourney each year when he can't do it at Indiana? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

That was personal Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

How messed up is it that even Mizzou fans don't want him? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

It's happening, isolated case but my friends and I were planning on going to to the game tomorrow at Northwestern and after everything, peaking with the 30 point loss to Michigan, we said f it. We aren't the only ones that are tired of this, but yes, a good amount of red will still be seen tomorrow. It will take another generation to completely turn this program into Illinois but we are well on our way Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Even my 94 year old nana says "he's so bad!" Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Yes I suppose, but Stevens would never say "this contract extension is nice, but no Danny, this does not put the college option to bed" and no, until we fire or are on the verge of firing Crean, he won't even address it through back channels. He is not going to risk it getting out that he is truly interested until it is a forgone conclusion it is available and it is his. There was a very recent time we could have had Calipari, Could have had Self, could have had Pitino and the list goes on. It's Indiana still means a lot to people, especially to adults that are fully aware of what basketball means here. There aren't that many coaches that would turn down the job and that is coming from someone that was on the evaluation team the last go around Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
-
Who in their right mind that is employed would publically state that they would leave that job for another one without that said job in the bag already? These guys saying they want to stay in their current job is only good until something better is presented to them. Maybe IU is better, maybe it isn't but we won't know until we offer them the job and they compare it to what they have and what they have and want may be quite fluid Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Any reason you didn't include jay Wright? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
