Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets
schoosier replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm surprised you didn't hate the article since it says what most everyone on here posting has said on either side. I especially liked the part where questioning Crean was stirring the pot or being a Crean hater. Just because I point out a lot that he can't coach thats what you and others have labled me. The man who wrote this article is spot on! Choosing a bunch of pot heads and partiers over your program and losing Luke like players should lose you your job. Plus I'm sick of you and others defending this man with Sampson like morals as his current crop mirrors his. At least Sampson could coach. -
I had no idea; thanks for the education. Speaks volumes since Knight thought so highly of Woody and even watched his practices. Maybe there's hope afterall?
-
kinda like the general.Didn't even Woody Hayes come back to Ohio State?
-
This. UK is a top choice for any kid wanting to go tô the league. Results speak volumes. That and cold, hard cash and mean, green bluegrass buds.

Great example of how a high school coach understood more about his team's performance than a college coach. Maybe since college coaches have more time and resources they think all this extra paractice will pay off in games. But it never does, and Indiana 2012-13 was aperfect example. They started sputtering towards the end of Big play, played worse in the Big tournament and looked really bad in the NCAA tournament. Practices need to be cut back even the overall mental preparation. More time should be focused on health related issues and peaking both mentally and physically to avoid burnout.

Its a complete breakdown of the entire staff when all of these paid professionals from coaches to trainers cannot clue in the head coach about "peaking" his players. Combine that with Crean's ego which is apparent in every losing post game presser, and you have a recipe for post season disaster. Crean never played at a high level so he probably just doesn't understand. After all these years at IU, watching his sideline behavior guzzling DietCokes and his maniacal pacing and coaching is still troubling at best. I am convinced he has no sense of pace of the game, trends, who's doing what, or anything related to earn his big payday. He's a miserable game coach that must leave his best coaching in his 2 1/2-3 hour pregame practices just like his teams.

Hoosier Transfers and Recruiting Targets

Shooting at 59% clip while avg over 9 point. Plus he's close to 3 assists and 2 rebounds per game. While maybe not mindblowing stats, they are good anyway you want to look at them unless you think he should have lottery stats. That kind of steady play would help any team and especially ours this year or last. -

He's in a boot like every other project center that was eligible. Sorry, Reb, that skillset was set up so nicely for this. -

Sour grapes always taste bitter. Lyles dad is scum and Dunham yada yada. Crean missed big on his 2012 recruiting class and you want to make excuses. I'm sure you aced his let's make excuses class. Hyper102? -

Probably the best player ever coming out of Pendleton Heights although Butler signed another one for next year. -

Matt Carlino hit for like 37 last night against Ga Tech. Third school from UCLA to BYU and finally Marquette. Smith-Rivera at Georgetown was a big miss from the Movement recruiting class. To think about how highly these 5 kids were rated and where they are now(Yogi, PJ, Hanne, Hollowell, and Patterson). Recruiting was on its way up and Crean picked these 5 when he probably could have had many others from this class if he wanted. I don't understand how Crean always gets great marks with recruiting when this class is probably a big reason why he will be gone after this year. Kids like McGary, Dunham, and Smith-Rivera could have been in the candy stripes. -
Impressed Cody! Takes me back to some great days.

We've hit a new low being compared with Syracuse. What's next, Kentucky? Just very sad.
-
That's hard for me to believe. If true, don't get me started.
-
They say the rope's a lot stronger nowadays and I believe it after hearing your comment. Do you think defense has anything to do with this game? UK with 8 blocks this half!
-
Uk vs Kansas. Wow, first five minutes just unbelievable athletes and size. It really puts an exclamation mark on just how far our program has to go to compete at a national level. UK with 9 burger boys and size only an NBA team wishes to have. Self is a better coach but you can't coach NBA talent.

Is this our Champions Classic thread? Held in Indianapolis without our Hoosiers? Blasphemy!
-
Didn't he walk on for Sampson? Sad story; hope he gets the help he needs.
-
Happy you got to watch AJ as I did. He was a truly great member of the IU basketball fraternity. Like you said your Crean lovefest has another thread.
-
Ha ha. All of your three posts spent stalking me. Now who has the agenda?
-
Yep, and some are much more knowledgeable about the game than others. Take AJ for example, excellent shot and very quick. He also passed the ball well and always played within a team concept. He was a class act on and off the court. It was something Indiana basketball was known for having. Good kids, students, and human beings that usually brought their A game ever night. So sad you were not around to witness anything like this to compare. I'm sure you would have a different outlook.
-
You're right. This is about AJ and what's important to him like his former coach coming back for him. Obviously according to AJ, his coach made a big impression on who he is today and how he got there. AJ was one of our best ever. He lead by example and was clutch in big games because of his dedication. Congrats AJ; a true definition of a Indiana Hoosier legend.

Semantics which is alright to discuss. Even though you read my post and who I was discussing, I will paraphrase. A coach who will not or ever take blame is no leader. That same coach who will then say he has no leaders among his players is a hypocrit at best. The results of Crean's not having any leadership has resulted in his program. One that not many but a few apologists here find proudful. Is that helpful?
-
I got it along time go. The bigger question is when will you get it? You can't say all this is misinformation about our team or their lack of leadership when 6 of 13 are in trouble. Obviously you are in the same camp as coach saying all this is on our player leaders. Stan getting a 2 real game suspension for 2 failed drug tests and 1 alchohol and id arrest is the message he has been sending from day 1. The message has been sent from the head coach that 1. This behavior will be tolerated 2. This behavior will not be punished. At least my fantasies have a merit of hope. Yours are tired, useless, and shady. Time to stand up for the glory of IU.
-
Not one where 40% of his team has been arrested and lays it all on them. Please tell me one time where Crean has taken blame for anything his team's have done on or off the court n his 7th year. Par for the course. Now compare him to a hall of fame football coach here in SC having a terrible year and guess what he says. "We aren't very good coaches now" or "we need to coach them better". You see the difference? A great leader certainly doesn't throw his players under the bus esp during these hard times unless he's no leader at all. And that's what we have at Indiana for another short year I'm willing to wait after 6 long ones.
