  1. Sure looks like we need him more than he needs us. Not that we should be surprised.
  2. I forgot about this post until it was liked. Some of us see things much clearer than others . Now the coach is saying we have no leadership as his excuse for his program's problems. Never heard a head coach blame leadership before, but I certainly agree. Mind blowing denial and lack of what he doesn't have. His broad shoulders comment was the only time he has come close to accept blame for anything in his program, and we see the results.
  3. Sorry I Couldn't read the first 7 pages before offering my own example. Coach, I just don't see you coaching much past this year. We are recruiting at a high level and I don't want to see your talents waisted here while you could be contributing on another MAC level team. We only have one head coaching job and two commits lined up and we're still recruiting and potential means everything. I know you have patiently waited to get to the final four but others with more credentials are interested and may want the head job. We're not sure but they look promising. It's Indiana so even though you have given six years for your chance, we feel it would be better to move in another direction but we will help you coach somewhere else. No hard feelings coach, just the way it is in big time basketball right?
  4. Crean, Remy asked to be reinstated allegedly so to me that's proof. Roth up until school started thought he had a spot. Jurkin leaves for more playing time when he never got any before. I would be willing to bet most of these conversations were you won't get any playing time or you have been recruited over, so why stay? It should have been unless you improve on this aspect of your game, you won't get much time. Or we have recruited some really talented newcomers but you will get another opportunity to prove yourself. Nine newcomers in year 7 and only adding one burger boy just doesn't make any sense for your program. Do you not see the value in upperclassmen like your namesake?
  5. Reread my comparison which wasn't what you wrote. If you're gonna reply to my post actually read it and get it right. I don't mind the disagreement with my opinion as it happens a lot.
  6. Rob Johnson's comparisons are similar to Remys. So instead of having a senior Remy we have a freshmen Remy. Same with Priller and Jurkin. We keep resetting with younger, inexperienced and body wise immature players chasing the next shiny object. Same for next year with the oversigns and still continuing to recruit. We aren't Kentucky even if coach wants us to be with 9 new players on the team. Results speak for themselves andnot sure how you can pump the sunshine on it, but many will find a way to the kool aid. Drink up.
  7. If its Yogi, Troy, and Stan I seriously doubt it. JB2 won't get many open looks but most others will.
  8. I didn't see the scrimmage but saw some highlights. What's even more apparent now is we will get killed inderneath. Hanner is our only true post prescence and he still has a long way to go. Devin and Holt used as subs just won't get it done at the 5 or even 4. I saw more of the same from Yogi and other guards having to create their own shots. Our opponents will let us shoot every chance they get. I didn't see much defense either. Did you attend and what are your thought?
  9. I was referring to a win or two in the tourney. Without Hanner being a stud and based on having one in Noah last year, I just don't see it even with adding several better wing players. You can't play them all at once and you have to rebound. I just don't see a replacement for the 10 Noah had last year even with 2/3 of our post players. And Troy needs to commit to rebounds and I just don't think he will. Troys a wing player at the next level.
  10. I agree your shade of glasses may be crimson. You lose a double double lottery pick at center who is a rebounding machine, plus a 1000 point scorer who avg. 4 rebounds. Now, we have no post prescence outside Hanner for all of about 5 minutes before he gets in foul trouble. Our inside depth's gonna kill us this year. Unless we score at a high rate and use very little shot clock, its going to be a long year. And this style of play just don't jive with B1G basketball unless your coach can figure out how to do it. Look at Crean's rack record the last 6 years.
  11. Syracuse under a microscope and the money well dries up. There is no other way blue chip kids would want to play in that city. The coach is probably the most under achiever in NCAA history. Their 87 team had 4 players better than our best, so thankful it is a team sport. They are the all arrest u compared to the all academic u of North Carolina. ACC...good choice to align Notre Dame with their similar academic issues.
  12. I agree and with Wil and Yogi being away playing ball for USA; this hurt us with leadership and continuity. I agree with Hanner too. Its not like our previous players didn't party or get into trouble. While before my time, I have heard stories of Landon Turners ways before he got it figured out. Now granted, Hanner is no LT, but the comparison is worth noting. I hope Hanner has a breakout year, as our season's hopes fall squarely on his shoulders.
  13. I like your excitement, but let's be honest. The players you mentin good chemistry and character are the same ones being arrested and allegedly failing drug tests last year correct? What gives them a pass yet a player only being recruited has you worried? I'm not picking on you; I just think the double standard for Lyle is not fair since he hasn't had any indiscrections as the above to my knowledge all the while on scholarship at IU. If you're gonna hold this kid to lofty standards then hold those currently playing to the same. Those unwilling to give him a chance just seems so hypocritical.
  14. I thought it was 12 scholarship with one oversign to get to 12?
  15. Speaking of hyper players, the team he's playing against in this video were full of them. He has a nice shot and blocks shots well with a good vertical. Looks like his best role would be a a three so I don't see how this addresses our inside depth. Maybe he could play a four similar to Watford and he has more athleticism. Are we still recruiting with two oversigns, and who will have to wait when early signing period opens up? I can see some B1G coaches getting ticked off if all are allowed to sign all of these players early since we don't have any seniors and there is a rule in place that addresses this. I can only see one plan and its not created by players leaving for the NBA.
  16. As practice players sure. Better than using all your schollies on St. Marys recruits where some of the ones you would fine there were probably higherrecruits with better offers.
  17. For practice players which is what a lot of our scholly guys end up being. You're not tying down a scholarship for one year and running him off the next. Some of our project centers would get abused there. Have you ever witnessed any of the games?
  18. Please stay away from Big Red heading north out of town towards Indy if its still there. Loved that place and bought my first legal keg there right at IU. What a party! Hope you students are still living it up like we did back in the day before laptops and cell phones. Phone pictures...now that's scary. So thankful we didn't have them; overserved once and you become a facebook legend.
  19. I would say this is a fair assessment. The recruits need to be vetted better and the scholarships should not be given out like Halloween candy if the staff fails on their top choices. I bet you could find some pretty decent students who would be more than happy to practice in exchange for choice seats or other legal favors. Just go to the hyper any day of the week. Great talent that decided against lower tier colleges play there weekly.
  20. He's a really smooth player and stays under control. I'm impressed with his jumper, and he looks to have worked on this part of his game. Always knew the slashing and passing were tops. He's a hell of a talent and these highlights don't have much if any showboating. Sign him up and keep this Indiana kid home!
  21. Would you say we have recruited top tier D1 athletes this year looking at all 7 of our newcomers who have taken scholarships? Do you think they said to those who aren't you have one year and isn't this against the spirit of Glass' athlete bill of rights or whatever its called? Hartman deserves to graduate and go thru Senior Night even if he never sees the floor. Crean offered a scholly during his soph season and he accepted. The folks here that want to run off these juniors and players don't see the big picture of sorry recruiting and failed promises. No leadership starts at the top and Crean has overachieved here, although a lot less than 3.2 he gets paid. Welcome new commit just don't get too comfortable as the chances of you staying are stacked against you.
  22. Rebel, we seem to agree on most everything except the definition of being "run off". I surmise Roth, Abell, Creek, Jurkin, and others were run off while Fisher fits into the other. Why would Fishers then be such a surprise and caught the staff off guard. You guessed it, they had no planning in it like the others. Next year will be more of the same just by his commits. Of course, these transfers will leave for more playing time, but the official statement by Crean like Fishers speak volume as to motivation.
  23. [quote name="LazOffTheBench" post="91913" timestamp="1413296269"]I honestly don't believe Crean is interested in recruiting Lyle anymore. Too many academic and character issues to deal with there. But it wouldn't surprise me if Crean continues to be in communication with JaQuan, taking a fatherly interest in his well-being and offering him guidance. That's something JaQuan really needs.[/quote)Laz, do you really think Crean is giving advice when he's not recruiting him at the same time? Its not like we don't have scholarships to offer.
  24. Understatement. We are at the top of the B1g in turnover rate in mens basketball on and off the court and not because of players leaving for the NBA. It comes from signing 6/7 new players every year and turning loose good quality upperclassmen for the next, new shiny player. We Pride ourselves as being different from UK yet we can't even have a senior night except for the cheerleaders and band. Disgraceful what IU has become.
  25. While a verbal agreement is non binding and can actually be rescinded at any time between both the school and player, college basketball has a gentlemen's agreement that other schools should no longer still recruit these players. It is totally unlike football where there is no such agreement and kids are recruited right up til signing day. Of course a gentlemens agreement in this day and age is becoming much less of a factor considering the Eric Gordon recruitment, Cal and Trey Lyles, and the instagram photo of all the letters JB2 was receiving long after he committed. Supposedly the coaches association were supposed to police this activity and try to black ball etc... those coaches that broke this agreement. I don't know the associations position on it now other than it probably doesn't like it but can't do anything about it. In other words, it doesn't exist anymore since the ones breaking it are getting the players.
