  1. Everyone loves a good comeback story Sorry, I'm going to hell.
  2. Coach Cig is "arrogant." He's got a set of king kong sized balls. Talking about getting used to driving to Indy because they'll be in the Championship game, etc. A very confident dude. However, by all accounts a few months in, he's a pretty good dude too. Handles the press fine. Shows up at events. Etc. You can be both.
  3. Have any of the IU coaches articulated any type of recruiting strategy? Seems to me it's been about chasing a bunch of shiny things. My own philosophy is: 1) Dominate the state 2) Be uber competitive in the region (IL, OH, KY, etc.) 3) Then grab a 5* or two nationally.
  4. Excuse me -- No Self Imposed Limitations. Coach Cig out. :)
  5. Back in the day, Michael Jordan had a stipulation in his contract which allowed him to play pick up games.
  6. time to play those billion $$$ Power Ball Drawings :)
  7. Yeah. I think you have to be ready to move if a coach upgrade becomes available. Much like the Cubs did with Joe Maddon.
  8. Thus the word “hopefully.”
  9. Given what just happened at Kentucky and Louisville in their coaching searches, I seriously have to wonder if we had any serious candidates interested. Hopefully he can go on a little run with theses new guys and then step away gracefully.
  10. Sure. But then you know, don't you.
  11. Ok. I thought they could enter any time. Good to know.
  12. Yes. Just can't enter for immediate playing time (grad students exempted). But a kid like Cupps could enter to "protect" himself and return to IU. Doubt that he would though.
  13. I don't want him to crash and burn. I want him to hang a NCAA Championship banner (like he said). But facts are facts. He is squandering the opportunity. He may not have the work ethic or adaptability required to be a championship level coach.
  14. Like I said, this is the fire Mike Woodson thread. Go somewhere else if you don't like it.
  15. Reading is a skill. I give two chits about Izzo. Fact are facts. Aside from the on court performance, at the end of year three there was zero foundation. No HS recruits, zero, zilch, nada -- as the one he had decommitted. The portal haul saved us from being a bottom feeder next year. Whether that strategy is sustainable, we'll see.
  16. Agreed. I thought it was great that he kept TJD and the rest. Go look at my posts -- I was pumping sunshine. He was able to stop a "sinking ship." And stabilized everything with year 2 of TJD. Even year 3 had some promise -- decent incoming class, landing Ware from the portal. But then he crashed and burned. And when I looked at the future it, there was none. HS recruiting was unsuccessful when after 3 years he should have had a good base. The portal saved his butt player wise. But there still really doesn't appear to be any foundation going forward.
  17. It would depend on the state of the program at the time, would it not?
  18. We don’t really know what Newton is capable of in college. I think it’s a good thing as it gives him a season to get his legs back. No need to rush. Hope he sees it the same way and will be patient seeing a bigger role for him in two seasons.
  19. Sure, but wondering if Woody can pull it all together and win big with these guys isn't "negative" as much as it is realism. We have 3 years of experience to gage from. And while past performance is no guarantee of future performance (which is a good thing here) it is relevant. My prediction is Woodson is going to go back to what he wants to work and try to force it -- i.e.; his version of inside out with 2 bigs, weak 3 point defense, hockey lineups, etc. However, he'll be quicker to pull the trigger and make the changes he did the past 2 years -- find what will work best with this group. We won't be looking at a Feb. of "must win" games to make the tournament (hopefully).
  20. Yeah but you have to sandwich that 87 National Championship in between Cleveland State and Richmond. Takes away a lot of the sting. :)
  21. How do you get there from here? Of the top 5 in this year's Big10 only two ended up top 25 -- Purdont and Ill. Wis was on the bubble. None of the teams joining were ranked.
  22. We’ll find out if it’s a systemic weakness or talent weakness. We also need to see if we back to “buddy ball” with 2 bigs clogging the lane.
