That’s because it was a stupid thing to say. WTF is a “true fan?” In Woody’s mind it’s just being a yes man. They guy sucks a$$ as a coach and program builder. Even if we win a few, the IU basketball program is worse now than when he started.

The problem with “stats” is they don’t account for the teams we played vs the teams we will play. I would expect the stats to trend worse as we get into the gauntlet we face the next few weeks.

Sure. He was on the hot seat last year. So you're not going to extend him. He's on the hot seat again this year. He was given the money to build a top 10 team. They are under performing that metric. However, IF he ends up with top 25 results and a makes the tourney, the likelihood that he returns, and gets that extension goes up. Right now it's wait and see.

I agree. There is no question there are reasons to get rid of him even if he manages a final four run this year. The program is in horrible shape in terms of foundation for it's future -- recruiting pipelines, player development, etc. But to the casual fan, the "true fan" if you will, wining in the now is the measure of the program. They don't look past that. So when we blew Atlantis, it put a cloud over the record which has everyone questioning whether they can compete in the Big. Nebraska showed it's still a work in progress. Stealing the PSU win was a step forward. We are really going to find out against U of I, Purdon't, and those Michigan teams. We steal this Iowa game, and they pick up two unexpected wins and are much closer to closing in on the 10+ Big wins needed. Hell, even I'll jump aboard, but right now I am "show me" first.

Program is in a bad spot right now because Atlantis crushed our hopes and dreams. The prognosis of Woody coming back is based on the 10-12 win, make the tourney scenario. Right now it's hurry up and wait, play some cupcakes and bottom of BIG teams. Season really starts Saturday at Iowa and gets more difficult from there. IF they continue to win, you'll see some mojo pick up around the program. IF not, look out below.

He's a puss. Afraid of the the hard questions becuase he sucks. And yes, like others have said winning cures a lot of ill, not being an a-hole allows you some grace.

He's called mediocre Mike for a reason. These wins, plus the non-confernce wins, where mediocre at best. There really wasn't any where we showed up and "announced our presence with authority."

Maybe he just coaches when backed into a corner. Ballo is out past curfew so he rips him a new butt hole and “suspends” him. Ballo responds - good for him. He gets POd about the negativity and the close cupcake wins, so he kicks a little a$$. They put up two nice conference wins. Now he goes back to wine and cigars, until next time?

Allen was coming off a terrible season. Firing Allen was a no brainer. Dolson gets zero points for firing him. Hiring Cig, he gets an A. But it was still a crapshoot and no guarantee he would be as successful as he was. But what if Allen made the Toilet Bowl that year, is he still gone? Is Cig here? Probably not.

But if you believe Cathy, it’s hire/fire by committee. Making the tournament changes the narrative for Woodson. Some administrators will back off and Dolson will lose. Think of it this way: Dolson goes into Whiten’s office saying I want to fire Woodson. Pam leans back and says “well he just got us to the tournament. Who is your replacement?” Without a solid replacement, it’s hard to fire a “ successful” coach.

They got an unexpected win. Allows an unexpected loss. Net net it’s still a push.

IF. A big IF. Hope Ballo heads out to the bars this week. That seems to have lit a fire. :)
