    Woodson's defense is too complicated for them. Takes too long to learn, let alone perfect. And requires players above the college level. Thus, I think they get frustrated and disengage.

    My comment only means we start playing real teams. After what we have seen, I am afraid of Minn. and already have Nebraska booked as an L. You’re talking tournament. We are a long way from there. My guess is we’ll be on the bubble again and the non conference schedule will end up keeping us out. Unless of course big improvements are made quickly.

    My comment is nothing further than his ability to manage egos and personalities like Rodman, Jordan and Pippen. You can easily fail if the players are out of control.

    Phil Jackson of NBA fame was great at that. His strength was managing the personalities and egos of the players. He left the X&O to guys like Tex Winter, the triple post guru. It's a trait of a lot of successful people -- surround yourself with people who cover your weaknesses.

    I completely respect Crean for coming to the chitshow when he did. Like you said, in 5 years he turned it completely around (before portal and NIL). But he failed to sustain and was let go. That's fair enough. We were obviously, hoping the next guy could build on the foundation he set up. The next guy didn't. The the now guy isn't doing it either. Hopefully the next guy can.

    My opinion only — once they start taking big dollars, they become fair game. They have nicer chit than me and I have been working 30+ years.

    Even cathy said scott had other candidates that he wanted to pursue and woodson was basically forced upon him.

    Sure "cupcake" may be the wrong word, but definitely not the caliber you want to measure up to.

    Which is exactly where we are. What if we replaced a couple of cupcakes with ND or Butler, maybe a Dayton, or Loyola. Mix it up a little.

    Yeah. We generally get 11 non-conference games. IMO at least 5-6 of those should be against similar competition level. 8-9 cupcakes doesn't do any good longer term.

    Actually, it is just apparent there is one dude, who isn't even part of the athletic department, throwing his weight around. Guy is a bully, plain and simple. His term is up in 2025 and hopefully he goes away.

    Sure. Stuff happens, especially when wives are involved. :) But it is interesting that the guy gave up coaching after that -- maybe his heart just wasn't in it anymore.
