This program needs hope in the worst way. Hope in the off season - the portal - and the preseason! Like WayneFleekHoosier has said before in regards to hope, it's all we've got. I just don't see how there is going to be a buzz around the preseason in terms of media hype without spending big $$$$$ in the portal and bringing in obvious difference makers. Now if preseason top 25 really is important then spend away because IU won't be a blip on anyone's radar otherwise. It's hard staying the course with IUBB for a lot of fans and we all know why at this point. History...tells me strap in because the odds are we won't be preseason top 25.

Nah...and I know you're kidding - Cig doesn't need the IUBB program to be less than so that football reigns above all else. Cig's a big enough person to cheer on the entire Athletic Department.

My biggest concern for DDV is his overall demeanor. I've always had the sense (post RMK) that a 'fiery' personality was going to work best at IU...to go along with "confident, cocky and capable" in implementing an unrelenting identity of what the program would be going forward.

So you also like the retention of Sisley, Dorn and Miles plus the 3 freshmen coming. Really like your thoughts on just bringing 5 from the portal and if that's enough difference makers. I've envisioned more like 6-7 portal. But you have great insight when it comes to scout and would love to hear your thoughts on portal additions.

No...not saying Sisley will/won't be back, just this is just one way people could be disappointed.

This is where doubt of all being completely pleased could factor into our reactions to the changes.

We as fans are bound to be surprised on who stays/who goes. Doubt we're all going to be completely pleased. But I've said before it's probably likely we see an infusion of 6-7 new players. Maybe as many as 9 new faces besides the 3 freshmen. Hoping Carr and Coach can pull it off in year 2. Who knows if even this staff remains totally intact.
