  1. Does anyone else get a little nervous watching the highlights because you're afraid it was too good to be true? Like, Sharpe won't actually intercept the pass, or Mendoza will fumble after the initial hit on his run? I'm only able to watch the blocked punt because nobody shows highlights of a punt, so that one obviously went our way.
  2. Let's pretend they not only show up, but actually contribute next season. How much better could we be? Top half of the conference/bubble team? Not going to get people back in Assembly Hall. If we were 4-6 or maybe 3-7 in the conference and the team was fighting hard and growing, I'd support giving her another year. We're 0-10 and going nowhere. I just don't see things getting back to where we want them to be if she sticks around.
  3. I heard a lot of neutral fans say during our football run that they wanted to get behind us, but we seemed like the kind of success story that always ends tragically. Wasn't the case, obviously, but I could easily see that happening to Nebraska. March is unforgiving.
  4. I wondered if that might be him. Ben Humrichous just crashed into him trying to save a loose ball. Humrichous, by the way, graduated high school in 2020.
  5. @Uspshoosier I turned on the Illinois game and looked for the super fan you've mentioned that's always seated in the lower left corner of the screen, but I didn't see him. Has he not been there this year or does he wear a different jersey now?
  6. We can debate expectations all we want, but I think everyone would agree that a P5 coach in her 12th season should never be 0-10 in the conference under any circumstances.
  7. Players usually follow the lead of their coach. When the coach has mentally checked out, the players will too.
  8. I can't see Painter going anywhere or hanging it up unless we finally have a coach who can make his job more difficult. Outside of maybe a couple years with Crean, he's been able to get pretty much anybody he wants within the state.
  9. I've seen it titled halftime rant for years. Classic example of the Mandela Effect.
  10. Purdue starts 2 true seniors and a super senior. If they make any kind of run in March, I wonder if the media will hyper-fixate on how their average age is older than some NBA teams.
  11. What did it say? It disappears when I click on it.
  12. This makes me happy after years of Purdue fans referring to Assembly Hall as their practice court.
  13. Sometimes I wonder if Loyer would start for them if he hadn't graduated from a high school in Indiana.
  14. Really curious how long they can keep it up. The MAC is terrible, but they've had some close calls recently.
  15. I've been holding out hope the past few years that eventually they'll become a team that's just pesky and doesn't ever seriously threaten to win anything outside the Big Ten. But I think they're golden as long as they have Painter.
  16. It's cold as hell in the Hoosier State right now. But for Hoosier fans, it feels like paradise.
  17. Poor guys. Purdue is one of the least impressive preseason #1's I've seen in awhile.
  18. Exactly what I expected to happen. This is what good, veteran-laden teams do. Need to answer.
  19. I would expect Purdue to make a run. Teams as experienced as they are don't usually just roll over.
  20. The last 5 fouls of the half were all against us. Second half would be a great time for the Hall of Calls to return.
  21. Pushing 4 minutes without a point. Can't have scoring droughts like that against a team that's elite offensively.
  22. Michigan State down 11 to Rutgers late first half.
  23. If the program hadn't been in such a downward trajectory the past few seasons, I might agree. We've gone from top 5, to top 15-20, to borderline tournament team, to dumpster fire. Knight had already won a couple national titles, and after that season he still had about a decade of strong teams (along with another banner). He was also in his 40's when that bad season occurred. After yesterday's game, I'm officially ready to start entertaining ideas about our next coach. Moren just seems checked out. My biggest fear is if we try to convince her to stick around, somebody like Glenn Box might head to Purdue once Katie Gearlds gets canned.
  24. I was privileged to witness a pretty amazing meltdown from a Notre Dame fan after the CFP selection show claiming this year's playoffs were illegitimate if we won because we didn't have to go through Notre Dame.
  25. He was the architect of our Grace Berger/Mackenzie Holmes masterpiece of a team. Our recruiting fell off a cliff after he left.
