Don’t worry about it

Also seems 7-8 million is about as much as the most expensive nba coaches make, too https://www.google.com/amp/s/clutchpoints.com/raptors-news-nick-nurse-becomes-one-of-highest-paid-coaches-in-nba-with-contract-extension/amp/

Good, the only CBB coaches in that range are K and Cal.

Where’s Zeke live?
-
Getting the in-person meeting is a monumental deal, if so. It means he’s seriously considering it, or even willing to talk details: $, timing, staff ideas, concerns and assurances, so on.
-
Guys I’m not an insider here but I don’t think it takes a genius to suggest that the hints mean: Dolson and Zeke are headed to Boston to meet with Brad in person.
-
It does get a bit easier every day and every hour to imagine Ainge and Stevens just decide the C’s need a new voice (perhaps one or both knowing Stevens has a dreamy landing spot.)
-
Yeah I’ve believed Chris about the possibility the whole time but even if I hadn’t, man, there’s...lots of subtext there

If Arkansas, Texas Tech, or Baylor are in the F4 there might be some intrigue.

Which one?

I don’t want to oversell my concerns about Beard. Here are his ranks by year in Torvik: UALR 2016: 69 overall, 110 offense, 50 defense TTU: 2017: 46 overall, 55 o, 53 d 2018: 14, 49, 4 2019: 3, 17, 1 2020: 22, 45, 13 2021: 18, 27, 21 So...still a massive upgrade
-
I’m torn on Beard and so I think I’m uniquely able to make the case for either side. As others have said: high, consistent baseline at TTU, he’s recruited better than they typically do, two standout seasons there and a good one at UALR. The theory that he’s a great option is basically that his defense would travel, he’d recruit even better at IU, and that sets you up pretty well. However, even setting aside “will he leave TX?”...he doesn’t run an attractive, modern offense, so he doesn’t really meet that criteria of Dolson’s (and mine). I’d like to believe he’s adaptable, but IDK. I don’t think he’d be bad, but I think there are some concerns worth having.

Agreed here. I DO think it’s possible this drags out three weeks or so, if other candidates are coaching to the final 4. That even gives you some nice cover. Some point thereafter gets to be too long, and if it’s Stevens you probably need to make an announcement that he’s coming after the Celtics are eliminated (if he isn’t coming immediately).

Beilein: fine choice if you really swing and miss but then you’re back on the market. He might give you a great decade though. Drew: I bet he stays at BU for a fat raise. Beard: can you convince him to leave TX? Maybe if he wants title(s) and sees a better opportunity. Alford: lol no Altman: has a little more Crean in his teams than I think some would wish. The right PAC-12 candidate is Enfield. Won’t be either. Matta: if he were healthy, he’s interesting. Doubt he’s it. Fife: I think he’ll be a successful head coach someday but it seems like IU wants an established guy. Musselman: love the offense and results; he has a rep as transfer-dependent but my hunch is that’s partly THE way to get talent quickly (or at all at NV). Moser: I’ve been impressed this year but I’m not sure I’d take this flyer. Oats: as discussed, home run, but his extension and Bama’s deep pockets, among other things, take him off the board. Pope: good coach, not really sure I see him taking a high-pressure job in the Midwest. Pitino: not a culture fit, old. Few: not leaving Gonzaga. Stevens: I remain encouraged by the positive insider chatter here but I’m still skeptical given the timing.

This is fun. I’d pick Stevens. Frankly, this years squad would’ve been, what, a 7 seed or better with Stevens on the sideline?
-
Just a @Chris007 appreciation post.

Yeah maybe this is self-serving thinking on our part but it’s not hard to imagine wanting to split before the boos and a lame duck year. Indiana is a dream job but it’s a hard place if you’re not winning. There are a plenty of places where slightly below average in conference with 1/4 tourney berths is acceptable
-
I’d say they’re both better than Collins, and if Miller’s better than Pitino it’s not by much. Pitino’s offense is better and he’s done well evaluating and landing some under-the-radar transfers.

Genuinely like this approach, which allows you to address individual concerns. So for example, one trustee is concerned about the finances, and you can go into detail about that, but another wants to talk in detail about candidates, so you do, and a third ...so on. I would pump the brakes on judging Dolson solely on this offseason, as those more in the know have detailed, his hands may be tied somewhat.

Idk just commenting on the reddit rumor last page. Where’s the time coming from?
-
Yes, if the presser rumor is true
-
IU tipped an NIT game at 9 pm on a Tuesday in Atlanta and Crean was fired at noon on Thursday.
-
Interesting...as I recall those two and Mike Roberts coming as an assistant were pretty broadly known before being officially announced. Not suggesting this person doesn’t know but, for example, I could’ve predicted those without any insider knowledge. So...this is sticking one’s neck out further.
-
I guess a true presser, where there are questions, is a tight spot to say you’re staying the course.
-
Thanks, I missed the time stamp at first. I’d be shocked if there isn’t either a statement or presser tomorrow either way — not sure this is indicative which way absent other info
