This is two factual statements: 1. They did sign him to an extension last year, and 2. “awhile” could be hours, days, years

This is the type of arrangement that allows NBA/NFL/MLB coaches to be traded for draft picks etc. It also prevents him from “quitting to coach a college team” and then taking the Lakers job a week later because whoops I left my contract They won’t want to keep him if he wants to leave but it’s something to negotiate around. Maybe they don’t own his coaching rights as a result of the split BUT he agrees he won’t coach in the NBA for ## years under $ penalty or something.

Getting the in-person meeting is a monumental deal, if so. It means he’s seriously considering it, or even willing to talk details: $, timing, staff ideas, concerns and assurances, so on.

Guys I’m not an insider here but I don’t think it takes a genius to suggest that the hints mean: Dolson and Zeke are headed to Boston to meet with Brad in person.

It does get a bit easier every day and every hour to imagine Ainge and Stevens just decide the C’s need a new voice (perhaps one or both knowing Stevens has a dreamy landing spot.)
