I understand you would wait if you knew BS was coming, but I still think this gets wrapped up shortly after the F4, if not sooner, no matter who the hire is. Now, if it’s a F4 full of coaches IU surely wouldn’t pursue or get for whatever reason — say, Houston or Syracuse, Michigan or FSU, Gonzaga or Creighton, and Oral Roberts, there’s less plausible deniability to delay a hire.

If it’s Stevens I don’t think it’d stretch into late May or June. Of course the C’s can play that long but I just doubt you’d have nothing until then.

Appreciate this, personally, as my optimism was waning. We probably know something soon. Other interesting candidates will lose, dominoes will fall (Beard to Texas?), and even if not next week, probably within two, as the F4 will be over By the way, just looking at schedules, Sunday or next Saturday always made more sense to me.

I have the same question but I also have a guess. As we know, Boston has struggled this year. Injuries, underperformance, bad luck, the whole thing. Even the best nba coaches have a shelf life. Ainge knows it, Stevens knows it. They probably wouldn’t fire BS under normal circumstances. But they like him, maybe a shakeup would help, and if they know he’s interested in the IU job, maybe everyone gets what they want if the C’s fire BS: fresh voice for them, clean break for him. No accusations of “quitting on the team,” etc.
