What’s the Nil policy on injuries? Seems some sliding scale on performance/injury should fairly be included. With some minimum base. On that note, what’s Kansas paying Darryn Peterson to rest his Hamstring?

We need to Baylor a Center before it’s too late. Lol.

IU Basketball News and Notes

Bryson Tucker reunion night. Stopping/slowing Hannes Steinbach (sp) is mission critical #1. Guess we didn’t land that mid season Center afterall, lol. -
Colts/Bears/NFL Game Thread

Colts have been a mess since late Manning years. Lots of parallels with IUBB so far as upper management decisions. I’m at least convinced but programs want to win and are trying to win. I feel like the Colts need some change or shift. Bad mojo and missed playoffs year after year deserves a looking into. I’m not a Ballard fan. Streiechen (sp?) is underwhelming. I don’t hate him. I like some of the stuff he does. -
With IUBB, certainly. Been a rough 25 years. I’m going to keep on keeping on. Crean had the hopes high for a couple years. Woodson gave a faint glimmer of hope or rather the boosters with the off-season spending and narrative push. Im obviously not this way with IU Soccer, IUWBB, IU Football. Follow all closely and have enjoyed the fan experience. Basketball is extra frustrating to me because our administration has made so many errors. The payoff will be sweet when it happens. The nice thing about the NIL era is I can reset my hope each and every season until I give up on the coach, so that is certainly a better fan experience than the idea of 3-4 year rebuilds.

Another change in the sport that Indiana won’t embrace to be competitive at the top. Either because of funding, or principles, or whatever other reason. I don’t love it, but it’s the landscape. Principles get you the season Marquette is having this year. Getting an anchor at the 5 would allow Bailey or Alexis to be a 4 in certain matchups and give us so much more flexibility. But, better yet, we should have identified this before the season.

Michigan striking out would be unbelievable really. Already missed key targets. Seems with their resources and moral compass they still poach a winner from somewhere.

Enright family member hoping/hinting for a Center on X. Me too brother, me too! They need was there to begin with and we brought in an unplayable 5. I mean, what are we even doing?

Bracketology and Team Resumes

Maybe my eye test will fail me eventually. To me, we aren’t a tournament team. That’s primarily based on our front court, our inability to rebound, and our inability to defend without fouling. Then lack of athleticism factors as the fourth. Shot making ability from 3 key players is our strength vs the above weaknesses. My mind is made up on my guess, but I’ll watch all the games and hope to be surprised and see improvement. Above all, I hope DeVries is learning, and learning quickly on the job what he wants and needs, and he will be given the resources to build a real contender for next year. -
Not exactly what I wanted to see. Wilkerson looked Great. Conerway had a nice 2nd half. I feel like Dorn Is going to make every 3. More confident in his shot than DeVries now. Enright is a liability despite the few positives he offers. Our bigs are just inadequate including against like mid major types. Sisley seems to have fallen out of favor after demonstrating the inability to make a free throw. Gotta play Dorn, DeVries, Wilkerson, Conerway a LOT imo and space the floor. Shoot 3s and pray. The long stretch with no games really stinks. Will begin having withdrawals right around the time the football team is ready to take the field.

Luck ain’t got that dog in him. And the Colts have been miserable ever since. -
I listen to the coach and player interviews here and there. I don’t think they see the writing on the wall. No panic at all. That’s great in a sense. “Ignorance is bliss” until it becomes obvious. Hoping they have another level they can reach, but they are so limited I just can’t see it, besides getting ungodly hot from 3. Would like to hear some answers to some of the losses and problems but I’m not sure they think there are issues yet. Similar to the lack of recognition in roster construction. Rubber meets road here really soon to figure it out.

Ooof.

Agreed. Offense has some slick plays. But man to man this is rough. im not sure what the answer is, but JMU and Tulane don’t belong. Moving to 16 is going to happen and probably very soon but what do you do with the JMUs and Tulane of the world?

No glaring coaching deficiencies to me besides his roster construction which is almost everything, though. Failure to see and execute your vision and knowing the level to scout is everything. This alone worries me deeply. Most people who analyze rosters would have had all the same concerns and did. Fans refuse to believe it until they see it. But the staff needs to prove their assessments right. So far, they are not. Woody had a plethora of issues with scouting and roster construction among them. Woodys guard scout was genuinely poor. With Woody, he for years wanted to run platoon type subs like the NBA and stuck with this moronic idea for years. Woodys on the court system would have worked with the right guards and shooters. And it did at times with the wrong guys. If Woody would played to analytics (abandoned the mid range), recruited better shooters, played his starters, simplified and modernized his defense, recruited team guys, etc, etc, etc. Despite all these deficiencies Woody and DeVries are going to have similar seasons because of talent. Talent/Physical skills are always #1 difference maker. (If chemistry is neutral at worst). I think DeVries can be great in his system with great talent. But can he identify it and get it? He choose to ride with Enright and his 2 bigs of Alexis/Bailey despite not even having a 4 that offsets the weaknesses of his 5. So, idk. Roster construction this season blows my mind.

Bummer. B1G continues to slide at end of nonCon. Thanks to a strong start the numbers will be solid, but definitely dipped and will hurt the metrics some.
