The hiring school pretty much always pays the buyout, even though it's tied to the coach. We paid 1.2 for Cig and I'm willing to bet a $5million buyout, for example, won't stop a P4 school from trying to re-create that magic. Not to mention the windfall it'd be for the G6 school that's happy to get paid 20% of that or less to play a P4. Coaching contracts have completely jumped the shark in all ways, but this is just another example of "it's that way because that's the way it is" imo.

I've always been surprised that the guys who are clearly on their way up the ladder at the small schools don't have outrageous buyouts to leave. Those schools are who needs it. Some of these P4 schools are making 10-15million selling hot dogs each year.

His biggest issue is a lot of times he's not necessarily wrong, but comes off as such a giant d-bag that it doesn't matter. His Florida State crusade a few years ago was embarrassing to watch because of how he handled it. He also sucks out loud on TNF and Al Michaels pretty clearly can't stand him, which is entertaining but gets in the way of an otherwise solid production.

Our place in that ranking is probably fair for now, though as far as strictly viewing a game ours is probably top-8ish because we don't have a bad seat. Nebraska is wayyyy too low and Wisconsin is wayyyy too high though. And depending on your criteria, Penn State is too high also. That place is super overrated.

Gameday could go non-traditional and head to 8-1 South Florida at potentially 7-1 (potentially 8-0 if they beat ND) Navy that week too. I don't see them coming to IU for a non-marquee game and I think it becomes less likely if Fickell is fired before then too.
