  1. Team was locked in from the tip. Of course DG going lights out in the first half helped. He had a different look, was locked in on both sides of the ball. Still some things to clean up, but loved the effort. Even when Iowa was making runs, cut it down to 9 in the second half, we didn't fold like we have prior. Also, there is something about Race Thompson. Kid continually has great +/- numbers, and sees to always be on the floor when good things are happening.
  2. This is a big move TBH. Good for CTA.
  3. In 2018, open salaries is showing we paid Crean $202k. Paid him $2,693,438 in 2017. Don't have 2019 data up yet, cannot assume it will be much, as I think his Georgia contact almost entirely wiped out any remaining buyout dollars.
  4. Right. It is my understanding that would be spread out over time, and offset by other coaching income, etc.
  5. I guess it depends what we are talking about in regards to donations. He gave $5 million for the sports media technology center in 2015 and funded the 3-D replay that IU uses.
  6. I agree. Honestly, I really enjoyed some of the Michigan writers (umhoops) content that bozich repackaged or referenced in his own articles. Guy typically had some good analysis.
  7. I personally am not a big fan of either, but wanted to share.
  8. A buddy sent me a screenshot from Inside Our Hell, I mean....Inside The Hall premium forum. Poster asked Bozich if Archie having his hands tied (in respct to discipline, handling of players, removal of players) was a potential story or just an excuse. Bozich responded that it isn't a potential story, implying that is it just that, an excuse. Thought this was interesting, as it has been a topic of discussion on here.
  9. With scholarships already open, and 2-3 more defections I would hope that the staff would be able to bring in some very solid transfers, either via juco, grad, etc. Archie even mentioned it on his last radio show, when asked about the 2 scholarships open. But if we truly are as handcuffed as some have discussed regarding treating athletic transfers the same as non athletic transfers, then I don't have much hope it will improve next year. The 3 freshman we have coming in are 4 year guys that should contribute soph/junior year, but not immediate impact players. That paired with our current roster doesn't give me any indication that we will be leaps and bounds better next year.
  10. Play a box and one for all I care, just throw something out there we can win consistently and at a high level with haha. Also...anything that doesn't require a high ball screen hedge all the way to Indianapolis.
  11. One thing I am sure about...I was never the captain haha.
  12. I'll be honest, I have been on a lot of teams on multiple levels, and never had a coach pick our team captain. In my experience, this is something that was always left up to a team vote. Also, I am sure summer performance etc. played into this, and Archie may have been okay with it leading into the season based upon what he had seen. Things change, hindsight is always 20/20.
  13. Very good points...I think they call that rock and a hard place. On top of that, I am sure Archie was hopeful he would turn over a new leaf and live up to his potential, with a captain role possibly providing some additional motivation.
  14. You take a couple hours off the board and have to read 20 pages to catch up haha. Without reading the last couple pages, has DG done something recently that would indicate he truly is a cancer? I know some have had concerns, including me in the past, about his on bench antics, lack of enthusiasm for team members etc...I have also seen times this year where he has been engaged, celebrating with team members etc. To just kick him off the team isn't appropriate IMO, but limiting his minutes is. It is on Archie for continuing to play him, that I can agree with. Will playing Bybee be any better, probably not, but I guess it couldn't hurt at this point haha. The DG situation in my opinion is unfortunate. We all have such high expectations for him because of the glimpses he has shown, but in reality he is a fringe power 5 conference guard, and on any other team would never be depended on to be the guy. He is inconsistent, sloppy and loose with the ball and always looking to make the home run play vs. the smart play. He has shown glimpses of being a very good on ball defender, but even that has slipped as of late. I don't think DG is a cancer, or the sole reason we are struggling. I just don't think DG is a high level player, playing on a team with 1 elite level player and a mix of supporting/role players. When you look at our team, ask yourself these questions. 1. How many of our guys would start on any other top big ten team? And 2. If you were putting together an all big ten roster, how many of our players would make that team? I can truthfully say, only Trayce would make mine. Our young guys can continue to grow and develop, but right now...we just aren't very good.
  15. This is just a brutally honest question...but why would any elite 2021 players come to Indiana right now? Why would our own Mr. Basketball choose IU after watching the last 2 play on struggling teams. THIS is what concerns me the most. If we continue down this road, recruiting becomes a problem.
  16. I will agree on this. Some of their tweets and behavior was truly embarrassing. I believe the IDS even wrote an article and referenced their tweets. The need for grown adults to engage high school teens will always baffle me. But...I am also a firm believe that no grown man should wear candy stripe pants unless they are on the court warming up...but I know those are fighting words among some haha.
  17. I just read the article...very interesting. I guess I'm not sure why he included this in his recap of the game. Seems very out of place, and potentially a stand alone article. Straight from Statistics to a weird shot at the program and fans....Was he pissed off about losing, and felt the need to make himself "feel" better by taking a shot at the program. Odd.
  18. You have idiots in every fan base. I would hope the kids we are recruiting would see the passionate fans at games like last night, and realize that is the majority of our fan base. Social media has given a lot of lunatics an outlet to connect directly with kids, coaches, etc....but living in Indiana and working in Kentucky and the Midwest, our fan base has an equal share of idiots in comparison to the other power schools. Maybe there are a select few cases where we missed out on a kid, but they are naive if they think those fans won't also be at their chosen school. Those cases may be secondary reasons for the kids not choosing IU, but I would have a hard time imagining that is the primary factor.
  19. Is this a hunch, or is this something thats been discussed? I don't follow their program, didn't know if there were rumors out there about issues.
  20. 1) The steal: not smart, but not as egregious as its made out to be (worse if you are winning and you try to score) 2) The block, absolutely okay, great play and evened out the "disrespect" of the steal 3) Standing over the guy, which is universally a sign of disrespect and dominance over someone...not okay, and escalated the situation. You felt disrespected, you got the block, great. Move on...I personally think this is partially on the refs/NCAA letting celebrations get a little out of hand. I understand you want to play with passion, but the flexing after scoring, putting your hand down to the ground signify someone is too small to guard you in the post, etc. all adds to fires like this. Maybe I am old haha. All around a sad scene.
  21. Tons of options...some new depending on your last visit. On the square, The Tap (awesome beers, food is great...fire cracker shrimp, burgers, etc.), Social Cantina (a la carte tacos, Margs), Smokeworks (Texas style barbeque and bourbon bar). Can't go wrong with either of those three. Plenty of really good options on the square. My favorite restaurant in Bloomington is Upland. Local brewery with really good food and beer. I also really like Farm, but it is a little pricier than the other options mentioned above.
  22. Good question...you always wonder would IU of been better off accepting the mutiny, letting players leave and bringing in a new staff vs. hiring Davis. He did get us a final 4 run I guess.
  23. Was pretty close to the action, and saw nothing but positive attitudes up and down the bench on Saturday. Archie even showing a little more fire than usual. Also...Mike Roberts is amazing to watch on the bench. I’m not sure how he has a voice after each game. His passion is infectious.
  24. South grad here. Wife went to north. Glad to see North basketball back to being competitive.
  25. Turns out Knight showed up at the Marian game today...so bizarre. Attends a random College game while ex players are being celebrated, again. I think Im finally be done entertaining him coming back. Clear it probably won’t ever happen. Apologize for the Misinformation earlier boys...
