Wilson and Glass Talking Extension Soon?
drock161 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I honestly didn't like Wilson at all his first two years. To be a freshman and have to sit through a 1-11 season (and not even be allowed to leave the games early) was not fun. His attitude rubbed me the wrong way and he didn't seem to be making many friends for himself across campus. But something changed after that second year, especially in his personality. I actually started seeing him at pep rallies and events, he was more sociable, and he actually made an effort to get the students excited about IUFB. NS getting hurt during the Iowa game last year was a huge bummer, and while we should have had a back up plan, I understand why that season went down the drain. And seeing the team put up a fight at the end of a close game rather than giving up was really exciting see! I hope he gets the extension (and a decent defense). I would love for IUFB's motto to no longer be "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!" -
It took them over 8 minutes to score a FG

Best timeout in college basketball!

Kentucky tied with Illinois State at halftime. 31-31

Uhh... Wrong team>

Those jersey's are awesome and I want one. Those candy striped ones should be sold year round in every store that sells IU gear.

Crean going with basically the same line up as last year: Yogi, JBJ, Rojo, Troy, Bryant.

Hurray! Thanks!

Same for me, not able to pick

Last season was my fourth year, so in 2012 I went with the pep band to the PU game. It usually ended up being a skeleton crew of members, but that can still seem like a lot when you have a 275+ person band.

Like I said, I'm extremely biased. But not being able to perform isn't the same. I've made that trip to Purdue for the game, it's a tiny volunteer pep band (barely fills up a single bus). IU doesn't provide a big enough budget to have the entire band make that trip even if it was made mandatory. Plus, the bucket game was my last performance with the MH. If I couldn't be on the field for my last game it would've been a huge disappointment for me. Don't worry, I see all of the upside pertaining to attendance and such, this is just my biased opinion as a band member. Especially since bands' roles are being diminished at schools around the country.

My only argument against it is that it kind of gets rid of the atmosphere of a college football game. I'm totally biased about this, but a big part of college football is the presence of the marching band. They're involved in home team traditions, pregame, half time, pep rallies, sometimes the tailgating, all that stuff. Which band gets to go to the neutral location? If it's both, who performs pregame/halftime (you can't do both, that'd take way too long)? That's not even going into logistics about getting the bands/instruments there. Now I know that bands aren't the reason why most people go to football games, but you can add tailgating, home team traditions, and also how since so many students go to school out of state, a central location isn't always central for a lot of students. Even Chicago isn't central for the UofI/NW game. It's a 2-3 hour trip for anyone from Champaign and less than an hour from Evanston. It could be a very lucrative option for the schools, but I like the home and home thing. Plus, we wouldn't be able to embarrass those Purdoo-doo heads on their own turf!

Instead 5-10 extra seconds were burned off the clock so they could get a layup -

So with their FT performance today, they make maybe 1 and then we get a 2 to win it? -

Why didn't we foul? They can barely shoot FT's -

Maybe he really had to poop the whole first half and he finally had a chance to after half time? Just a thought... -
