  1. the NIT is on life support, and I can't imagine the CBI continuing with the forcing of the conferences listed teams to play in it and the NIL going along with winning in the Crown.
  2. You aren't allowed to turn down a Crowne invite, it's in the TV contract. At least that's been what's been advertised. So if Indiana gets asked (and they will) they have to go. "Under terms of the proposed arrangement, the top 16 teams in the Big 12, Big East and Big Ten that did not qualify for the NCAA tournament — as ranked by the NET — would be required to play in the Fox event even if they are invited to the NIT. Those three leagues have rights deals with Fox. The network also has a rights agreement with the Pac-12, but it is unclear whether that league would be added due to complications arising from the Pac-12’s impending realignment defections." https://web.archive.org/web/20231012034237/https://themessenger.com/sports/fox-sports-mens-college-basketball-proposed-tournament-las-vegas
  3. Last in the MAC in NIL by a WIDE margin. Almost none. Makes a big difference in the MAC.
  4. This has always been the most compelling argument. You can see what the change in ownership has done to the Mavericks, and you can see who's getting the blame for it, their GM NIco. Getting out now gives him a free ticket to go back for big money into another GM job, no matter what he does coaching. The Celtics as constructed have nowhere to go but down.
  5. You hated our last Big 10 championship and Sweet 16 run?
  6. Then he isn’t eligible for a buyout. It’s a binary thing contractually.
  7. On the list and willing to take the job are different things. Mick Cronin badly wants this job.
  8. It even more likely that this push is from his agent to get Iowa to move quick.
  9. However, Rabby has to start gambling at some point. He's got to show his subscribers that he "knows" something. With how quite things have been in this search, he's probably feeling the heat. Oh after they stirred up that Beard stuff last week (after saying he wasn't a candidate since the start) then immediately went back to saying he's not a candidate, he's been banning people right and left when people were rightfully starting to get after him.
  10. 200 a day plus expenses I believe.
  11. There hasn't been a big name coach hired at a major Blue Blood program in some time. Louisville and Kentucky just hired guys who never won a NCAA tournament game last year. Unless something happens like with Calipari being forced out, the odds that in the NIL era that a coach who's winning and has a comfortable NIL set up to move schools isn't likely. the choices are going to be reclamation projects or up and coming coaches and it has nothing to do with Indiana at a program.
  12. Jeff Goodman has tweeted late this afternoon that McCollum is a top candidate which has lead to a storm of other places reporting that it's gone far enough that the school and him have talked (Peegs crew for one) More smoke. https://x.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1900299555138396447
  13. Been lurking around since 2013, but haven't posted much. And my point would be that being asked to retire is being fired, which is why he's eligible for a buyout. I'm just laughing about the retirement talk. It's so funny, especially with him saying on national TV "maybe I'm going to soon"
  14. It's been the exact opposite. That not even on the list that I've seen.
  15. But you don't get your buyout when you quit, it's only when you get fired or take another job......
  16. Hold on, is Brad taking the job or not? Fess up.
  17. Oh so he is not getting his buy out paid out in full immediately?
  18. Trilly is usually on his twitter spaces listening.
  19. Didn't Isiah grease the skids for this on his radio appearance?
  20. https://x.com/curryhickssage/status/1899612045026247157?s=46 Here is the spaces, some of this lines up with the post from the obviously pro Beard coach from Texas that was posted in this thread a few days ago, but being told from different sides. Starts around 1 hour 17 minutes roughly Both sides of the story do point that Chris wasn't willing to get help or change behavior when confronted during his suspension. Both stories talk about an incident in New York, but it's from both sides. I think we can put together that there was an incident in New York, it probably wasn't quite what either side said it was, but there was some sort of situation on that trip. I think we can safely say at this point he refused whatever steps Texas wanted him to address (which was probably rehab).
  21. I might too, but I would never think I should be hired by Indiana University for the men's basketball program.
  22. It wasn't really a rumor, this person was a Drake guy who had seen it telling the story from my understanding. It wasn't even an IU podcast.
  23. Did you hear the podcast where McCollum is known to vanity search his name and go after people personally on social media that are critical of his coaching decisions? Because if there is any truth to that, then I'm not sure he's going to enjoy coaching here and probably does need to go to Iowa. I'd make Kelsey say no if you want him, his contract is junk and they haven't fixed it yet. Golden probably doesn't need to make the move, and my guess if Florida pays him. Bucky is someone if we got that many nos to get there it would be disappointing.
  24. I think Reneau is a great building block, I just bet he jumps to a school that he thinks will win. I don't think Rice is a horrible guy to hang onto if the system coming in fits him. I wouldn't get in a bidding war over either of them I don't think unless the new coach fits that style to a T, which isn't likely.
