(2022) OT Carter Smith to Indiana
IUc2016 replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Oh I definitely feel it has improved over the last 2 cycles. I just feel like it has been a step behind the rest of our recruiting. But yes, need Moore to commit. -

I feel like for IU to take the next step their offensive line recruiting needs to get much better. Glad to have this kid as his offer list was really good. -
(2022) - SF Justin Taylor to Syracuse
IUc2016 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
I am still jaded from the past two coaching staffs. We made so many final lists of these national recruits only to come in second. I so hope I am wrong with this new staff. -

IU's class is ranked 11th in the Big Ten. (Soon to change according to twitter) BUT IU's 5 commits have an average player rating that puts them 3rd in the Big Ten. Hell yess. -
pretty good bunch of non-conference opponents. According to Bart Torvik's site all the opponents confirmed so far are to be projected in the top 175. Merrimack - 173 Marshall - 172 Northern Kentucky - 142 Louisiana Lafayette - 130

I am still pissed the Cincy game is at noon. I really do think the stands will be full but the atmosphere of a 3:30 kick or 7:30 kick was something I was looking forward to with that game. Oh well, will nice just to be in the stadium again

wait, I thought according to Woj no coach would ever consider coaching in college when the NBA is an option?
-
For all the stupidity that has occurred in the last 20 years, IU still has nearly 100 more weeks ranked than any other team in the Big Ten.

Yeah I have no idea how expansion will affect the disparity that has plagued college football, just some thoughts I have had for awhile now as I am sick of not only watching Clemson and Bama, but hearing about them nonstop during football coverage. Hoping that change will have a positive impact on the sport because I am tired of the status quo. As for soccer, I am all for it. And that is coming from someone who played football k-12.

@NashvilleHoosier I don't want to quote our posts as they are getting really long. I think for me it just seems illogical to make a championship IMPOSSIBLE for a good majority of the teams. teams have literally gone undefeated and not had a chance to play in a playoff (not even the championship). Also, are we sure that Alabama beating teams 58-6 is not a result of how college football has functioned for so long? Maybe if College football allowed more teams an opportunity to play for a championship the top kids wouldn't all feel like they have to go to Alabama or Clemson to play for it. I think it is reasonable to expect it would create more parity down the road.

I guess I have never understood how allowing more teams into a playoff would water down the regular season. Doesn't it do the exact opposite? Other than maybe for Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio state who are shoe-ins. A lot more teams would still have a fighting chance in November to make a run at a championship. That has never been the case in College football and it is really the only sport that does it that way. Is the regular season watered down in literally any other sport that allows more than 4 teams to play for a championship? Last year IU lost to Ohio State and it knocked them out of the playoff. Thus, for Championship purposes the rest of their games did not matter. If there were 8-12 teams allowed in the playoff it would have put MORE importance on the rest of their games not less.

Early Big Ten Projections (2021-2022)

If he leaves it drops them pretty far down IMO. They do have talent coming in, but nobody that affects the game like him. That said, I doubt he leaves. -

Coach Woodson's Media Appearances
IUc2016 replied to Hoosierfan2017's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Another funny quote.... Rich bozich asks Woody about the type of defense IU will play and mentions how they played the packline the last few years. Woody responds with "first of all, I keep hearing this packline.... what is that?" Bozich: uhh, we don't know. -

Thought this quote was funny. "there are no gimme's, you have to come ready to play for 48 minutes" lol Archie couldn't get his guys to play 30 minutes of a 40 minute game and Woody is like hell, you need to play 48 minutes of a 40 minute game! Ill take it. -

Early Big Ten Projections (2021-2022)
IUc2016 replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"Its been 21 seasons since a B1G school went winless in the conference season. That was Northwestern at 0-16 in '99-20 with Ben Johnson as their leading scorer. Since then, the Gophers worst seasons were 2-16 (with Ben Johnson on the coaching staff) and 3-13 twice (one with Ben Johnson in the starting lineup). I'm glad Thorson is on the staff, so I'll be optimistic and predict they WILL NOT be the worst team in B1G history: 6-25 overall, 2-18 in conference." I saw this posted on a Minnesota forum and I had to laugh. So, Ben Johnson was a player on a northwestern team that didn't win a single conference game and then transferred to Minnesota and was on a team that went 3-13. He also was on staff for two teams that went 2-16 and 3-13 in conference play. 8-58 in those four years, impressive I am still befuddled at how this guy got that job. I mean he was also on staff for some of Xavier's worst teams of the last 20 years! -

LOL at all of this. Obviously Xavier Johnson's tweet, but also at Katz putting Maryland at #1. -
