  1. I agree. They went 19-12 and finished 8th this year with those three guys, who were undeniably their best three players. I have a hard time believing that freshman class with what they have coming back will be better. Especially with how the rest of the BIG stacks up
  2. yes, he did a few weeks ago.
  3. Late to the news, but figured I would add it to this thread. Marcus Carr enters draft will not hire agent at this time. Isaiah Livers enters draft will not hire agent at this time.
  4. The first games I remember watching were Knight's last few years with A.J Guyton and company. He was the first player I loved watching as a little kid. I do remember eating breakfast in my kitchen before school when it came across the news that Knight was fired. The first season I remember following was Mike Davis's first year. The players on those teams really got me hooked on IU as I loved Moye, Coverdale, and JJ. They were like superheroes to me. That Duke game was the happiest I had ever been as a kid.
  5. This is very certainly an interesting take. I am in no way saying Archie's offense is good, but saying Mike Davis's was "way better" is a stretch and really not true at all. And I didn't come away from the Duke game thinking his offense was any better or worse, just got to shoot a lot of free throws honestly. I mean they had like 17 turnovers in the first half.... For reference, Kenpom goes back to 2002. Under Mike Davis, IU's offense ranking was 26, 20, 120, 68, and 58. Now the first two years are good. but the argument and narrative has ALWAYS been those were Knight's recruit and he put together that team. The following three years were with Mike Davis's recruits. Not so good. Archie has had offenses at IU ranked 92, 82, and 65. Not so good either, but this past year included the most results with his recruits, and has been the highest ranking. I have no reason to think next season won't see another jump from that 65th ranking as the talent continues to go up and Archie continues to gets his guys. IMO the continued progress of that offensive ranking under Archie is the key to his success. If it is climbs to and is consistently around 30ish, this program will be fine.
  6. Well I feel more confident about my top 4 pick for Rutgers now. They have depth down low to go with their experienced back court. Good pickup for Pikiell.
  7. This is funny. Archie has literally signed four players outside of Indiana in his first three classes 18,19, 20. All within the top 150, 3 in the top 100. 3 of the 4 in Big ten country. All other recruits have been from Indiana. But yes in a normal class I’m sure he would have recruited the shooting guard from Georgia ranked below 230. Give me a break. 8. he was. Last september and the Maryland game this year.
  9. yeah, if that helps you sleep at night.
  10. awesome. Really excited for this kid. Also, listened to the hoosier hysterics podcast where they interviewed him and his family. It is a bit lengthy, but a really cool listen. Archie is bringing in really good, well-rounded kids which makes me want him to succeed even more.
  11. Joe, I feel like you had a stretch there where you were growing on me and I was actually enjoying some of your posts. Now, you have reverted back to what I guess is the real joe or Loaded chicken Sandwich or Xavier or whoever you are. Such a shame.
  12. Who would have guessed this would turn into a bash Archie thread. Didn’t we have a particular thread for that...? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  13. Illinois has a lot more to replace than rutgers. we will see
  14. Tevian Jones from Illinois is entering the transfer portal. I really expect Underwood to hit the transfer market hard.
  15. Alan griffin transferring from Illinois is a big loss for them IMO. They lose griffin, Feliz, and most likely Ayo. 3 of their 4 top players. Miller better be ready to fill some major holes in that roster. I do look for them to be in play for some transfers though. Edit: I dropped them from 7 to 9 in my updated projections. 16. That’s not why I didn’t respond. But keep telling yourself the “truth” Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. If you are comparing year to year, raw efficiency numbers are pointless because it doesn’t take into account the strength of your opponents. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. Yeah I couldn't disagree more. There's a reason two years ago only 4 teams made the tournament, 8 last year, and 10* this year with 12 teams in top 34 of Kenpom. THe reason is the conference as a WHOLE got a lot better.
  19. The conference only efficiency numbers are pointless unless they are adjusted. The conference two years ago isn't even in the same stratosphere as the past two seasons.
  20. Uh no. But what did you expect for that season? please don't tell me the NCAA tournament.... If so i am not sure you have a leg to stand on there.
  21. IU lost by 15 or more 5 times. 2 of those being ISU and IPFW, which yes those two suck. Out of 18 conference games they only lost by double digits 4 times. I guess there is argument for each side here whether that is blowout loss after blowout loss. But that roster was really bad. It lost its three best players from the year before from a team that made the NIT.
  22. Curious as to how the first season was a complete and utter failure? Because we loss to Indiana State and IPFW?
  23. oh but they have. it certainly has been said in another thread about a month ago by a certain poster...
  24. I think we all agree on this no matter which side of the fence you sit on.
  25. probably why I didn't just post the record? Looking at the entire picture this program is in the right direction. I EVEN admitted it wasn't perfect. So not sure what you're quoting me for
