  1. https://pac-12.com/article/2020/10/28/pac-12-mens-basketball-releases-reorganized-inaugural-20-game-2020-21-league Didn't expect Pac-12 to be the first of the major conferences to release a conference schedule. 20 games starting in early December and the teams rotate each week home/away.
  2. thanks for the reply, good to hear.
  3. Has there been any chatter regarding how Galloway is shooting the ball? I don't think anyone questions his basketball IQ, toughness, defense, etc. but the biggest worry has always been his shooting.
  4. Wisconsin is pausing football activities for 7 days after 6 players and 6 coaches test positive. No game against Nebraska this weekend. First BIG game cancelled.
  5. IU - 31 Rutgers - 21 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  6. hearing some rumors that the UW/NEB game this weekend might not be played... Mertz and his back up both tested positive for Covid-19
  7. lol if that is what actually happens, I got no problem looking like the guy in your prof pic
  8. Well IU is now 1-0. They have beaten 1 of the BIG powers in PSU. I said I would like to see them go 2-1 against PSU, UM, and UM, but would be okay with 1 win. Looks like they did the minimum now lets see if Tom Allen can really put the rest of the BIG in fear and knock off another ranked team this year while beating everyone they should. Still say 4-4 is okay. But now I really want to go 5-3! GO HOOSIERS
  9. https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/10/27/2020-2021-player-profile-khristian-lander/ I'll be honest, I have no idea what to expect from Khristian this year. With absolutely no tune up games and heading straight to high major competition I am worried. Will be interesting for sure.
  10. Would expect nothing less from him. Awesome.
  11. According to Jeff Borzello, Maui in Asheville is still on as 95% of COVID protocols have been agreed upon. Good news for IU with all going on at the ESPN MTE's
  12. According to many national media members, ESPN and Orlando no longer hosting the MTE's that it was supposed to. Will affect a lot of teams schedules with a month to go
  13. I haven't been able to post about the game so I thought I would share some of my thoughts: 1. The defensive line didn't get a whole lot of pressure on Clifford but man they really held their own against PSU's straight forward run game despite the T.O.P. I kept waiting for one of their backs to break one off tackle for 50+ yards like in years past after IU gets worn down in the second half but it never happened. Great to see. 2. DB's gave up one big play that can't happen in a game like that, but played an awesome game altogether. Jamar Johnson and Devon Matthews really stood out to me as both made tremendous plays throughout the game in both run and pass coverage. 3. Penix really struggled to get his feet set and make routine throws. Always looked like he was uncomfortable and never looked to run despite ample opportunity (until the end!). Hopefully as the season goes on the rust will wear off. I know the Ramsey vs. Penix crowds will continue to go at each other all throughout this season no matter what, just sets up that way. Although nobody can argue that Penix was clutch at the end and a huge reason IU came back to win it. 4. Play calling, not much to say other than I was not impressed. Hope PSU had more to do with the struggles of the offense than anything else. GO HOOSIERS! BEAT RUTGERS!
  14. Agreed Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz reportedly tested positive for Covid 19. According to BIG rules he has to sit out 21 days if true. That would seemingly really hurt Wisconsin as they would be down to the 3rd string and have Nebraska, Purdue, and Michigan in the next three games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  16. Regarding Mason Miller, this is my opinion as well. I know most say they could coexist but I still have a hard time seeing two top 50ish players at the same position coming to the same team in this era. If they were both guards, not a big deal. But two 6'9 perimeter oriented forwards is a different story. Edit: But hey, I would gladly welcome both!
  17. I should say that 4-4 is the minimum for me. And given IU's history it is what I expect. But if that is the case I do expect IU to win the crossover game and/or the bowl game. Anything less would be a disappointment, 4-6 would not be a step forward. 5-5 would be mediocre but understandable given the difficulty of the schedule.
  18. So, the season starts in two days and I figure it would be a good time to get some chatter going regarding the predictions for this season. While it is a unique season and schedule, there are major opportunities for this program to keep moving forward and rising within the conference. The team has the experience and talent across the board to compete with everyone sans OSU. I predict 4-4. I would like to see IU pick off two of PSU, UM, UW and win out the rest. But will be okay if IU wins only one of the games against those three teams. Zero wins against them will be a disappointment. Also beat Purdue. A few things I will be watching for: Can Penix Stay healthy? Does the Defensive line improve? Does the offense take a step back w/o DeBoer? and does this team (including coaches) clean up the dumb mistakes that have plagued them the last few seasons? What are your predictions and hopes for this season? What will you be watching for other than straight wins and losses?
  19. IU fans are expecting to jump a few teams who lost much more than IU (UM, PU, OSU, Maryland, PSU) which is reasonable especially when IU's young players last year were what was so promising. Nobody expects to win the BIG. Totally different than expectations for Iowa. I am assuming you have watched Iowa basketball under Fran? It is the same every year. Not enough to jump UW (who returns everyone from a BIG champ) or Illinois. I believe they will be in the 3-5 range in the BIG, not a final four contender like most national media believes.
  20. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/big-ten-expert-picks-2020-21-preview-illinois-predicted-to-edge-iowa-and-luka-garza-for-conference-title/ CBS writers preview the big ten with some good analysis of each team. Between the five writers IU is picked to finish 7th, 7th, 5th, 8th, and 7th. Interesting enough Jerry Palm (PU guy) has them highest at 5th. Everyone is riding the garza train. Same team that Purdue beat by a zillion twice and IU hammered the only time they played.
  21. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/30139382/newcomer-impact-rankings-which-college-basketball-freshmen-transfers-lead-teams-2020-21 Lander is #46 on this list. Another interesting player on this list is Justin Smith at #32. "On a team made up almost entirely of transfers and freshmen, Smith is gathering the most hype. Averaged 10.4 points at Indiana and played more than 30 minutes per game."
  22. Here is a quote from Jerry Meyer of 247 answering a question regarding Aminu Mohammed and Trey Kaufman: What do you think the likelihood is that IU gets both Trey Kaufman and Aminu Mohammed? - Rob Lunder @rlunder18 Too early and too little concrete info to give a definitive answer to this question. Indiana is very much in the mix with both prospects and perhaps the leader at the moment, but that is as much as I can give you at this moment. My take is that both prospects are still working through their options and do not have their minds made up. Yes, I like Indiana’s chances with both of them, but that is as much as I can say.
