Remember how we used to laugh at Maryland for hiring Williard? I think many gave Wisconsin a hard time for Gard and the early years of Underwood looked tough. They are all looking pretty good right now. Hopefully hiring a very good to great experienced college coach with our resources will yield similar or better results

Still, Pearl was considered untouchable for awhile thus his stent at USI and then he once again cut corners at Tennessee and was fired yet many have him on their wish list. Then we have Sampson. He came in tarnished and kept on cheating. But, after IU he has seemingly been clean. Maybe people can learn. If we get down to the bottom of the list and if Dolson can have a plan to keep him in line I would be in favor. Would prefer a cheat and a liar (to the NCAA) over other blemishes.

@BGleas if I remember correctly you played Bball at the D2 level right? What are your thoughts about McCollum making a jump from D2 to Drake to a P4 school? I watched his game against Duke on YouTube yesterday and was impressed with how his D2 team played.

Creighton looks very good. I can’t believe no one has been advocating for McDermott (dws @Uspshoosier) Liam looks very good too. Wonder how he would have done here. My guess is that he would not have had the freedom he has at UCONN

It is like they are embarrassed fans would remotely think it possible. How often did we hear over the years you have to make Stevens say no and then say no again. Perhaps that is all this is but there is no harm in allowing that discussion to continue. Those on the Stevens or big fish train, like me, are fully aware that it is far more common for P4 schools to elect a mid major or rising star for their next coach than to poach a top tier coach, let alone BS or BD or JW level guy.

Maybe there isn’t any new news. There were a few people with apparent inside info that said we would not hear anything for a few weeks or when our season ends. We aren’t there yet.

Curious if anyone knows what the norm is. Has he done this much tourney scouting before? Any proof other gm’s/pres do this? If he went prior years did he wear the green clearly?

Someone should look back and see how the consensus was for him prior to the hire. I felt like many thought it was a good option given some of the other options. Now seeing how he has done at Butler probably alters some of that enthusiasm now.

Did Shaka Smart (or at a minimum his representatives) interview or talk with IU recently? Has a non college coach (or at a minimum his representatives) had discussions with IU about the job? Has a former college coach and former NBA coach (or at a minimum his representatives) had discussions with IU about the job? If Woody retired does he get any going away money, or does he leave that money behind.
