  6. Man, if the Big Ten would've had a drinking team, I would be rich!
  7. That's most definitely an improper benefit! Wow, the stories I could tell from that place- you could pick your favorite dancer based on the Cesarean scar they had
  8. Due to @Class of '66 Old Fart being out of commission (he's competing in Skeleton in the Winter Olympics), he gave me his super secret source for info: Trendon Watford led the Spartans with 27 points and 8 rebounds (and was named MVP) vs Huffman on Monday (I think). That puts the defending 7A champs Mountain Brook back in the Final Four
  9. After the legend of "The Natty" left, things just fell apart....
  10. Exactly! I'll bet I typed and deleted my post about 15 times, trying not to make it political or inflammatory. Definitely appreciate the prayers- 2 more kids have been "questioned" now. 1 kid is the brother of the first kid arrested, says he's going to "fulfill" his brother's plan tomorrow. My kids are going to have a day off...
  11. 2 arrested for school shooting threats in 2 days at Columbus East High School, 3rd student "questioned". My daughter goes there. Praying for understanding and change. Really don't know what to pray for honestly. My kids are afraid to go to school, our school board is not prepared/willing to deal with this issue.
  12. 82-70 win!! Awesome!
  13. Buss either tied or set all time assist record/ EDIT- looks like she may need one more to break record
  14. Buss has 29! Edit, 32
  15. 42-38 almost halftime
  16. 0-7 Minnesota. Really rough start, turnovers and sloppy play
  17. Buss, Yeany, Cahill, Penn, Royster starting
  18. I'd hate to lose any of your information- a lot of us find it entertaining and useful (I say entertaining because sports entertain me, I don't live or die by them)! Keep posting!
  19. Had to post something in this- @cleeter messaged me a little while ago, asked if I was related to the Kohlmeiers (turns out cleeter knows my cousin!). After a really nice chat, I shared a story about Kim, which relates to coach Knight (I copied this story from a newspaper article a few years ago): Kim Kohlmeier, a 6-foot-3 ball handler and team captain, was driving his Volkswagen in Milan when he collided with another vehicle. His VW was torn in half. Among the multiple injuries that Kohlmeier suffered was a broken right leg that would keep him in a cast for 18 months. During the semistate final against Richmond, in the tight final minute, Kohlmeier, dressed in street clothes, gestured toward official Gary Muncie. Muncie hit him with a technical, giving Richmond free throws, the ball and, essentially, the game and a berth in the semistate championship. "Kim was not the most popular person in Milan that day," Veldhaus said. Muncie eventually moved on to officiate in the Big Ten. Kohlmeier became a student manager for Indiana University coach Bobby Knight. The first time Muncie officiated a Hoosiers' game, Knight turned to Kohlmeier, sitting behind the bench. "Is that the son of a ***** who called the technical on you?" Knight said. Knight, Kohlmeier recalled, began "ranting and raving" at the official every time he passed him. After several trips of abuse, Muncie whistled Knight for a technical. "Now," Knight asked Kim, "does that make you feel better?"
  20. Things like this always remind me that things don't happen when we want (or think we need) them. Even the failing at a kiss- that was part of a design that set things in motion. These things awe me, so glad for you, and so glad you shared! Nice to get some sunshine news!
  21. Milan Sanitorium Funny you say that- there used to be a mineral water produced in Milan, Miwogco. It smelled and tasted awful (from family members- was gone by the time I was born). Milan had a sanitorium (basically a spa, founded on the "mineral springs"), which was really beautiful (my great aunt Jeanie Stute was born in that building). This and the Kohlmeier furniture factory were the two biggest buildings in Milan. My great grandpa Clifford Winters had a grocery store in Milan, and at one point, worked with James Cash Penney, better known as JC Penney. Makes me want to go back and visit (was just there for a funeral, but that's not a visit!). Sorry for hijacking! Love history!!
  22. That's awesome- love it! Both my grandparents (Campbell and Kohlmeier) are from Milan, and still have some family there. Bob Wichman from the team) is my uncle- lives in South Carolina now. Bobby Plump handled my grandfather's affairs until his death- great great man! When my grandfather passed away, we found the program from the '54 Championship game, and a ton of pictures of the procession headed to State. I'm passionate about single-class basketball- glad to see others share my opinion!
