If we could actually get that KU series ironed out instead of talking about it every year we'd be moving in the eggy direction in our scheduling. UNC (N) UL (H) UVA/Cuse (H) Butler (N) KU (A) Gavitt? Those 5 or 6 games would stack up amongst the top noncon schedules in the country. The other 7 to 8 will be among the worst though.

I know there's a thread for future schedules but can't search in the app. IU will play in the 2K Classic in NYC next season with Va Tech, Washington, and Providence. IU will play against UNC in the Jimmy V Classic in 2018. AWESOME!

It would be cool to see what he has to say but I wouldn't expect anything groundbreaking from this. There's too much that goes on behind the scenes that coaches, national recruiting services, and those in the "know" won't say. Too much money to be made.

It's like the people that have been around this program forever know just the way to get the fan base humming, every time.

What doesn't feel like we're all over the place with...? Recruiting strategy, recruiting ability, defense, rotations, etc...

I believe only puke and Duke have won a natty with more than one one and done in the OAD era. We need talented youth but also experienced upperclassman leaders.

Without a doubt Hartman not being on the floor hurts but having captains and a "chain of command" does wonders. Crean is huge on "peer leadership" but it flows from the top down. We have a system that doesn't really involve one and dones. In your first year or two you need to learn to follow before you can lead. As an sophomores and juniors you can still lead even if you have older players above you. I just don't see this consistently from Crean coached teams at IU.

Macintosh heating up coming down the stretch. It would be good for the B1G's chances for NW to get a win here.

Macintosh coming alive in the second half. Everyone I watch NW it seems like the announcers are talking about him being in a slump.

Leadership is an easy excuse. We have a senior Hartman, juniors RoJo and JBJ but we lack leadership? All those players have played significant roles from freshman year on. I don't like Crean's model of "everyone needs to be a leader." I don't see a model out there that "everyone is a leader" that works. Even in the elite of the elite spec ops units you have a ranking structure. I would like to see captains and see them shoulder that burden.

I'm surprised Minny has kept it close so far. I still expect FSU to win by 10+

The B1G has looked a bit down so far this season while the ACC is looking strong. Who wins? What games are you looking forward to besides UNC/IU?

I thought (hoped) it would change this season as well. We have several players that should be plus defenders but the scheme seems a bit flawed. Newkirk, Green, CuJo, and RoJo should be able to pressure on the perimeter with guys like TB and DD at the rim. JMo and OG are versatile defenders but seemed to not be where they were last season. It's odd.

IU is in bowls in back to back seasons for the first time in many moons. I'm happy!

Food for thought, something I've been thinking about since the IPFW game and something that really jumped out in the MVSU game. What defensive style does IU run under Crean? We went zone against MVSU... I get these games are meant as live practice games to experiment with different sets but we struggled to keep the #348 ranked team in front of us. On several possessions in the first half we went from switching everything on the perimeter to not switching. This had several players confused when/if they were switching. Is this necessary? The best defenses year in and year out have a system that they implement and stick with. Virginia and Wiscy run a pack line. Louisville runs non stop pressure. What is IU's under Crean? Should it be something that's changed?

They don't play the Wiscy/Butler type hard nosed defense and will try to run. I'll be surprised if we don't win, keep it close.

About what I expected. We're not as good as beating KU in Hawaii or as bad as losing to IPFW. Get a win against UNC and we're back in the top 10.
