I could definitely see that. This game could be one that the starters get off to a slow start and the reserves come in to add a boost. It will be interesting to see what kind of crowd shows up too.

Probably better in its own thread to be discussed throughout the year but.. Do we believe the committee will ever switch to advanced analytics to choose the field and seeding?

I'm not a huge fan of the RPI but it would be a good one to track as well. BTB member poll, IU poll tracker, prediction league.. all things that make BTB great and educated. Good stuff pap

I didn't watch much of the Wiscy @ Creighton game but it seemed like Wiscy turned it over and shot too many 3s that weren't in the flow of their offense. When we play them, If they want to feature Koenig and perimeter Hayes over Happ and interior Hayes I would be just fine with that.

What are you hoping to see from the team and individual players tonight? OG - hoping to see him attack the rim and post up more. I really believe after slipping on the floor several times he gave up on trying to do anything besides taking set shots. On the other end I would like to see him defend his opponent into submission where they throw their hands in the air and walk off the floor pissed because they did squat on offense. JBJ - keeping doing JBJ things on offense while defending at a higher level to start the game. JBJ should be used to defend the opponents "shooter" in most games. (opposite of Troy last season) RoJo - attack and make good decisions while knocking down the open three when available. Pressure defense Newkirk - finish at the rim, it will be against weaker competition but gaining confidence will help moving forward. Continue defensive pressure Bryant - dunk on the whole state of Massachusetts. Not pick up early and dumb fouls Morgan - continue the all around game, at least 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists CuJo - that step back three ball just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.. Davis - run the floor and finish around the rim better. Not much skilled size on UML but, again, gaining confidence moving forward McSwain - ditto on the finishing around the rim

Agree, I guess a lot of it depends on the draw though. We better continue to do work in the OOC because the B1G might be "down" again this season. Wiscy and pu lost games they could have won/were favored and MSU looks lost.

Thoughts from Goodman..

The players play and KU is 10 points better than THAT Duke team. It's a different story with Duke at full strength. I feel IU was the better team against KU when they were allowed to play. (All 4 minutes of the game) It's only a few games but IU could be a legit Final Four team. Also, MSU x2, Wiscy, and pu all have early season losses. MSU is going to have to get healthy and learn to play small ball. Wiscy looked a little different from past Wiscy teams (only saw a little), and pu will always pu when given the opportunity to pu.

Think this is one we need to win. A frosh Garland and a junior CuJo as a starting backcourt..

KU goes on a bit of a run when the refs stop tweaking out. Right back to tweaking..

Creighton that good, Wiscy that bad, or a combination? I didn't watch a lot but it didn't appear Wiscy was patient on offense. Maybe the early season rules emphasis is hurting them.

I read/heard data about teams returning from Maui and losses in the B1G/ACC Challenge. It wasn't a good winning percentage.

It appears the officials are going out of their way on the freedom of movement fouls. This is terrible to watch but it will get better later in the season.

The number of fouls will decrease as the season goes along. I don't think we'll have too many 63 foul games the rest of the year. (IU might have 63 against Wiscy though)

No, I dislike the college game becoming more like the NBA for no reason. The shot clock at 30 seconds is perfectly fine. We don't need a 24 second shot clock or 6 fouls or any other rule changes.
