Creaning or something. I dont' know.
hoosierpap replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Don't drag me into this, Martin lol. I'm about to read through this but seems like an avoidable topic based on the thread title and first few posts. -
I want Troy back.I know he can be really frustrating but if he leaves you're losing 44.9 pts between Yogi (17.1), Troy (13.0), Max (8.0), and Nick (6.8). Bring all three of the questionables back and you're looking at JBJ (15.8), Troy (13.0) and TB (11.5) with increased roles and you've got a solid foundation on offense. Obviously, there is more than PPG but I don't think I'm pushing Troy out the door.

Tom Crean joins The Vertical podcast (Listen Inside)
hoosierpap replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Definitely have heard that about this specifically. Sorta makes you wonder if that "snake oil salesman" stuff is just BS. Sometimes coming off too genuine can have an opposite effect, I suppose. Liked the last couple minutes where he talked about grabbing new stuff, storing it away, applying it to recruits, game day changes etc. Specifically, and about as emphatically as Crean gets said something like "it'd be STUPID" to not adapt and change. Certainly flies in the face of a lot whats said around here. I'm as concerned as anyone for the march madness performance, and what next year brings...but I'm just going to roll with it for now. Seems silly not to, but thats me -

Indiana Hoosiers vs Maryland Post Game Victory Thread

This doesn't have to do with off ball screens, but to the no instincts/lack of coaching point... http://www.btn2go.com/game/maryland-at-indiana-on-03062016 10:30 in on the video, not the actual game 15:37 mark on gametime...watch troys defensive possession. Not trying to pick on him but...wtf. -

Indiana Hoosiers vs Maryland Post Game Victory Thread
hoosierpap replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Interesting convo, and you can tell they were coached differently and came from different types of programs before Indiana. Teams absolutely pick (no pun intended) on Troy. I'm not saying defending an off ball screen is the simplest thing in the world, but it's certainly doable. There are several different techniques for defending several different types of off ball screens. Troy just has no instinct on it because, I assume, he hasn't done it enough or had enough success with it. I've pretty much given up on Troy having any sort of reactionary technique to defending a screen away from the ball on his man. Ex. reading the screen then reacting by going under, over, shooting the gap etc etc. I really think, at least for the remainder of the year, Troy needs to realize that he is going to be screened away from the ball. From there, Troy needs to work on finding the screen and forcing his man one way. Find your mans path and bump him off it/force the other way, . It's a little bit of a cheap way to defend, and can certainly result in the offensive player making a smart reaction (ie flaring to the 3), but it's forcing them to make a play as opposed to just running the play they planned for. This isn't apples to apples, but it's sorta like off a ball screen or whatever you get into a m2m mismatch where you know you can't defend the guy. Face guard the hell out of him and deny ball. 1, you can play with a lot more contact away from the ball than if he has it. He may back cut you, but you were in trouble anyways if you are just going to let them exploit the mismatch. -

Crean's known to have a pretty good eye, but he also has a reputation of being really honest with NBA execs. Not every HM coach is known for giving accurate information- whichever agenda they're going for. Sometimes they're helping themselves, helping the kid, etc -
Mike Miller @MikeMillerHT Crean said timeline for Rob Johnson's return is unclear, but he's made "big steps" over last couple days. Zach Osterman @ZachOsterman Crean: "What a timeline is? I can't give that. But he's getting better." #iubb Chris Goff @CgoffJG Crean on Robert Johnson: "He's getting better. I was giddy yesterday and happy today with the progress he's making." #iubb

Mike Miller @MikeMillerHT Morgan wouldn't have been able to practice or play today, but he's improving. Zach Osterman @ZachOsterman Crean again reiterates that Morgan is doing better today than he was day after Iowa. #iubb Mike Miller @MikeMillerHT Crean on Juwan Morgan's injury: "He was in pain that I've not seen him in since he's been at IU on Tuesday night"

Yeah agreed. Never been able to find the whole show

Not really. I think he caught him off guard a bit. Bennett said something like, "umm, I'm trying to remember the situation." Mentioned his sister used to coach there (all of this seemed like stalling to some degree) then said it wasn't the right fit at the right time basically.

5 Reasons Why This IU Team is Different
hoosierpap replied to BlueDevil's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
#4 and team chemistry, which do have some correlation. Teams with bad chemistry can't do jack esp on defense and IU fans have suffered for the last few years as a result. You clean that up, voilà! -
