  1. Oh my...guys, they matter. D1 coaches use them.
  2. I feel like you've eluded to how bad these AAU stats can be sometimes...
  3. This. Harris wouldn't play for Crean, loved him, but not the coach for him.
  4. Fwiw, he played in 9 of 14 games and those stats are in 8.7 mpg according to d1. Again, I'm not sold. Just saying. http://www.d1circuit.com/stats/team_instance/2626005?subseason=380949&tab=team_instance_player_stats&tool=2364614
  5. He had a sweet dunk on twitter last night... :)
  6. I think more than anything this post, which I agree with mostly, demonstrates how thin of a line IU is walking- at least in the immediate situation. 1) I think there will be attrition- but I don't know it. 2) Everything I know about recruiting suggests the recruiting landscape will change for '19's- but do I know it? No. Both of these assumptions suggest Archie and co. will be fine regardless of Forrester. On the flip-side.... 1) As good as of situation as it is to be in... "running" someone out has particular consequences. This stuff becomes a little more personal than I would ever care for but for one- he essentially re-recruited these guys (I don't care about it, but I don't influence recruits) 2) Not taking a more talented and impactful player in a class a year later due to lack of numbers has particular and immediate consequences. I should know a lot more about Forrester. He's from here. He was also stuck behind and out shadowed by serious talent at Westtown. Anyways, it seems Archie and Co. are confident in their evaluations of him. There's also an idea that Forrester projects to be more impactful when IU is ready to be a contender and, thus, more important than the shiny one/done. I'll buy in right now, far too many variables. But it's complicated.
  7. Sorry, I'm just seeing that in the other thread. Maybe talking in absolutes was misguided. Here's what I know... I can say that I've heard (at the HSBB level) IU is prioritizing RL as the headliner for the event. I can say Tim Langford was consulted on the date before it was finalized. I know from past experience, it's pretty common to have and schedule around one recruit and work from there. Like I said, I knew the date was set quite a bit in advance of the release but I wasn't privy to the actual date. So pretty confident in that, but I assume it's possible the staff picked a day they didn't expect RL to visit.
  8. I'm generally of the "bird in hand" approach because of how fluid recruiting is...but I'm in full agreement. You either hit big or save them. IU is in that legitime of shape with talented '19's that I think it makes sense. And, like I said, it (almost) never makes sense for me.
  9. If you're Archie Miller what's your strategy? How do you round out '18 with '19 in mind?
  10. It's a message board. You catch shit for whatever you say :)
  11. It's about establishing connections in AAU more than anything
  12. I don't want to be too irresponsible here because RL doesn't know where he's going...but there is reason to feel good right now about IU. I mean, like, real reason to feel good.
  13. Very true on all accounts. One nightmare you just brought to mind was that Nigel Hayes game. He shot like 20+ foul shots to IU's 18.
  14. Not saying these games are not difficult, but I do think we can do a bit of a reset on teams like wisky, @ PSU, etc where we just knew IU was going to struggle with FCTC
  15. Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein 6m Indiana's five-game stretch between 11/29 & 12/15: Duke, at Michigan, Iowa, at Louisville, Notre Dame (neutral). Epitome of brutality. #iubb
  16. Wait, Ziggy is lurking??
  17. Didn't know that. Interesting, certainly enough complaints
  18. That's because you're a wise, wise man :)
  19. So this height at PG myth needs to be disproven. I'm tired of seeing it and almost posted about it like two weeks ago but got distracted. National Champs: 2017- UNC- PG- Joel Berry- 6'0 2016-Nova- PG- Jalen Brunson-6'3 2015- Duke- PG- Tyus Jones- 6'1 2014- UCONN- Shabazz Napier- PG- 6'1 2013- UL- PG- Peyton Siva- 6'0 2012- UK--PG- Marquis Teague- 6'2 2011-UCONN- PG- Kemba Walker- 6'1 2010- Duke- PG- Nolan Smith- 6'2 2009- UNC- PG- Ty Lawson- 5'11 2008- KU- PG- Mario Chalmers- 6'2/ Sherron Collins-5'11 2007- UF- PG- Taurean Green- 6'0 2006- UF-PG- Taurean Green- 6'0 2005- UNC- PG- Raymond Felton- 6'1 Okay. That's 12 years. That's modern day college basketball. That's an average height of 6'0 PG for national championship winners. There is literally no positive correlation between above avg height in PG's and national championships. If you think I'm cherry picking 12 years, keep going- it's only going to get worse for you. Again, the height thing is not me saying I would rather have RP at 6'0 than 6'6 as my PG...it's me saying height isn't the thing to focus on with PG. Sure, all things equal, duh- I want the taller guy. But waaayy more goes into it at PG. Give me talent, ball handling, ball control, leadership, IQ(O and D), passing ability, defensive fundamentals, cleverness, shooting, quickness - pretty much everything before height. I think IU fans have PTSD with regards to the Syracuse blunder. I was there, 3rd row. Crean was screaming nonsense. IU got beat because they had a terrible gameplan to attack a zone, not because Michael Carter-Williams was 6'6. It was one game and it was a mistake at the top. *This is probably broader than RP, and probably CCG is going to PM me about our own rules regarding the recruiting forum. But, yolo?
  20. I'll do it if we need more, just have a ton of leagues getting a bit ridiculous lol
  21. I've not heard that, no. I'm not sure I buy that but, if so, more than anything that would speak to IU feeling good about another recruit they like more. I also don't think that is the case.
  22. Maybe people are assuming you can't win a recruitment with that message when OSU is selling him the keys to the castle. I don't know what IU's message is to him, so I can't say either way. But the message you're putting out there is used, and certain recruits respond to it, some reject it. A lot has to do with the kid, his people, existing offers, etc. From what I've heard about Archie on the trail is he is pretty straight-forward with his intent for the recruit. There can be some harm in that within an individual recruitment. You may not get the kid 6'7 SF who needs to hear he'll play 40 min a game bringing the ball up the floor, but long-term you keep relationships intact. You win recruitments with relationships, plain and simple. Don't get me started on these in-state coaches.... :)
