IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Not really that deep of a running back room. So far they only seem to take 1 HS guy per class. We were using 3 backs till Beebe got hurt. -

Question is if Bostad's ready to trust them. Ajani he obviously does, and Wilkins seems to have impressed him, but I bet they get at least a couple of experienced guys. I don't think Cignetti's going to bet next years national championship run on untested freshmen. -

Their not done yet. If they go 13-13 here, probably still 7-12 spots left. Somehow I have no doubt OL is being looked at. Especially if Smith goes in the draft. -

Might be speculation, but I think you're pretty spot on. It's kind of like Grant Wilson coming here, he could have got a bit of a payday and been a starting QB, maybe not P2, but somewhere. He wanted to get into coaching, and thought coming to IU this year was a good step. I think there are some smart players who look at preparation for the NFL as more important than getting the absolute top dollar who are going to choose IU. -

I wouldn't. And it might be that Hoover and Livingstone are a bit of a package deal. -

Actually read a article a few months ago, 20 anonymous high school recruits, and didn't link the schools to them. They revealed their top offer and whether they had went to the school with the top offer. As I recall, over half had passed on the highest offer. Now, I'm betting if they were being offered $600K they were not passing that up for $250K somewhere else, but a lot of them are looking at fit, relationships with coaches, general managers and etc., and other factors as they make their decisions. At the end of the article they did have a list of the schools that had been the recruits highest offer, and it had been IU in one case. -

Yes, he's getting the support that will keep him here. I'd about bet that he's far more interested in investment in the program than in another raise, which he's getting anyway. And I don't know that Hoover is a 4 million dollar guy. Just read a article a few days ago that detailed what the price ranges were by position and 4 mil was top end asking price. -

I don't do New Year's resolutions, but I have visited a few times in the last year. I am also living a IU football fans dream right now, and spending a lot of time the last few days consuming everything to do with IU football. -

Well, there seem to be some programs that seem to think the path to success is in just pouring more money into it. You need investment, but it better be a wise investment. You're not likely to do it on the cheap. That investment better be to bring in the right guys. Poor fits culture wise, prima donnas, talented but unfocused players etc. are still going to cost coaches their job. One thing we have with this staff is great evaluation, in both talent and fit. They're not going to hit a home run every time, but they do get a lot of production. 5 mil for Sorsby? I bet he has to lower it a bit, but who knows, the bidding war may get him there. I wonder what kind of money UK is talking that has Sam Leavitt interested. -

Yeah, I've seen one report at 2.3, but don't know if its legit. Top end QB this year asking price is as high as 4. Nice to know we're in the running if we really want the dude. -

This seems to be the consensus prediction everywhere I see it. Appears like we have moved into the "Heck Yeah, we'll pay 2 or 3 million for a quarterback" league.
