  1. If a coach is afraid they'll be fired after being as bad as Woodson they are definitely NOT the right guy.
  2. I don't want him either. This is IU though and can never get these hires right so we should probably prepare to be disappointed.
  3. It was never about their "love for IU", they wanted their buddy to have the job that was it. They're probably not happy right now.
  4. We figured that much. With the ego he seems to have the only way he was going quietly is if it was fully his decision.
  5. I'm not taking much from "we have our guy" to he honest. IU can feel good about where things stand and it not matter. We thought that last time and ended up with Woodson. I'd be ecstatic to land Stevens, but going from the front office of one of the most storied NBA franchises to college coach is a big step down so I'll believe it when it's announced. Indiana could offer a big salary and the Celtics could still up it with something like interest in the franchise. Granted we don't know what his motivations are. I'd just brace for something disappointing like Richard Pitino.
  6. The coach in waiting thing is part of why I put Pearl below Few. Like I said, I think it's moot though; any of those names would surprise me.
  7. If Few or Pearl wins like I think they would then the program would be in good shape for about 10 years; that'd be an improvement over what we've had recently. Stevens would be my number 1 choice. I'm not as sold on May. Granted I think the discussion is moot. I'm skeptical the next coach is any of those 4.
  8. If the list Chris posted is correct here's how I'd rank them: 1. Stevens 2. Few 3. Pearl 4. May I'd be absolutely floored by either of the first two. I have a hard time seeing someone leave the Celtics front office to coach college; his time away makes me think he may not be the sure thing he once was but he's shown he has a real mind for the game so he could very well figure it out.
  9. He's been to at least the Sweet 16 every year since 2015 with 4 Elite 8 and 2 runner up in that time; and he could probably land better talent here than Gonzaga.
  10. He's in the front office of one of the most storied NBA franchises around. It'd be unprecedented to my knowledge, but this is a guy that turned down a high paying job at Eli Lily to be a volunteer assistant.
  11. That'd be more shocking than Beard. I figured he was set where he is, he's had a heck of a run at Zaga. In his 60s but dude can coach.
  12. I'd be shocked if IU took a chance on Beard.
  13. He was old and semi retired when they made the mistake of hiring him and knew he had friends protecting him, and probably figured he'd just be worshipped because he played here.
  14. "Contemplating", he wants to stay but everyone else wants him launched from the nearest cannon.
  15. Odd way of saying we can't get rid of him fast enough.
  16. Clearly either Woodson or Buckner wrote that.
  17. Don't you put that out there.
  18. I'll pass. At his last stop they couldn't wait to get rid of him, and sources tell me there was no accountability so players got away with a lot.
  19. Let's remember, nothing official has come out yet. Woodson is, unfortunately, here until he for sure isn't. I get the thought of Stevens is exciting, but I'll believe that when it's announced.
  20. What would IU get in exchange for Woodson? A potato?
  21. He'd be in for a disappointment when he sees no one showed up.
  22. Almost like it wasn't really about what was good for the program.
  23. That would be really childish, and if true he shouldn't get a buyout for quitting.
