  1. Having an 18 year old as your NIL main event big is not how to go all in, IMO.
  2. In retrospect, you know what I think it boiled down to? Woody associated the IU job with his success and memories at IU. That was foreseeable human nature. When Woody was at IU, he was a prolific scorer without a three point line and he didn't play in the post; he was incredibly good in the mid-range. He knew what modern ball was like, but when a kid stop and popped for a guarded 12 foot jumper he couldn't help but think "That's a shot that Mike Woodson took and regularly made." And so he didn't put a stop to that crap.
  3. That's an overwhelmingly difficult assignment! Are we limited to pop/rock/country? There's just so, so much. Hard Times - Ray Charles (the master at his most soulful and explosive) 54-46 Was My Number - Toots and the Maytals (the catchiest ska prison song ever) The Kids - Lou Reed (The list is songs before you die? This is hearing what death sings like) Lust for Life - Iggy Pop (free form punk with zero inhabitions) American Tune - Paul Simon (the finest/not preachy nor saccharine ode to America) To Live Is To Fly - Townes Van Zandt (Maybe America's finest songwriter at his finest) Good Vibrations - Beach Boys (an epic pop opera in three minutes, 37 seconds) X-Ray Spex - Oh Bondage, Up Yours! (punk with honking horns and zero pretense) Shadowboxer - Fiona Apple (brooding angst personified) Imagine - John Lennon (doesn't get more thought provoking and haunting, whether one agrees with it or not) Little Red Rooster - Howlin' Wolf (good lord; a fat rust-voiced sex god) Fort Worth Blues - Steve Earle (country sadness with memorable, simple lyrics) Desperados Under the Eaves - Warren Zevon (soul touching -an artist's artist when it was made) Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst - Kendrick Lamar (maybe the best rap/hip-hop lyric ever) Wildwood Flower (yes - in 1928 this thing invented country music and a woman named Maybelle Carter invented country guitar) True Love Will Find You In The End - Daniel Johnston "This is a promise with a catch. Only if you're looking can it find you. 'Cause true love is searching too. But how can it recognize you if you don't step out into the light? The light. Don't be sad... I know you will. But don't give up until, true love will find you in the end." Sometimes the most extraordinary stuff is brilliant in it's simplicity.
  4. And an added plus about Enright's defensive abilities; him and Conerway are constant on-court reminders to the rest of the team to play every possession angry. Enright is a defensive culture-setter if there ever was one, and that positive outweighs his physical limitations.
  5. Yes. No two people's injuries and recovery time are the same, but yes.
  6. I'm a Bucky fan and Mgbako would seem to be a really good fit for Buckyball. But there's a problem for Mgbako and A&M, who likely spent a ton of their NIL budget on Mgbako; he had surgery for a Jones foot fracture in September. The news articles say that he's expected back by late November, but my understanding is that Jones fractures can be extended recovery period injuries. EDIT: Jones fractures with surgery are estimated 3-6 month recovery minimum. Because of the injury Mgbako isn't working on his handle and motor/conditioning, both of which need marked improvement. His tenure at A&M has all the current markings of a very expensive whiff.
  7. I'm with Pagoda. Malik, Myles Rice, and Tucker are super-nice kids. They'll be an asset to any program and were unimaginably misused at IU. Mgbako? To me he's not a 'nasty' kid, but he is kinda weird and immature with very questionable judgment, and it would take a really good leader and even better locker room to get him to be a positive asset to a team. Toxic? Maybe. A negative? Yup.
  8. In an effort to provide joy and optimism, win or lose, I present the IUBB shot chart thread! Let's start with a baseline of the past; The last game of the Woodson era; a 72-59 loss to Oregon in the B1G tournament: AND NOW.... the first game of the Devries era, a 98-51 win over Alabama A&M: My, how things have changed.
  9. Coach Moren is so good; she found a way to get Garzon opportunities at her one elite skill; three point shooting, and managed to hide the major flaws in her game.
  10. YOU SHALL ALL BOW DOWN BEFORE ME FACING FORWARD
  11. YOU SHALL ALL BOW DOWN BEFORE ME for now
  12. Apparently Harris - ankle, Ristic - ankle, Acimovic - ??
  13. I guess "difficult" is subjective. Also, apparently I posted that ND has had some "diffificult" games, which is a completely diffiferent word and might be a diffifierent metric.
  14. Spot on! Active players wore stripes on the bench and injured players wore sweats. Per this picture Andrej was in sweats last night: That means we only had eight scholarship players available last night and five; Dorn, Drake, Ristic, Harris, and Acimovic were out with injuries.
  15. While I'm in favor of anti-Notre Dame trash talk, Glensek's take is just is not true; while Notre Dame Dame doesn't have any wins over top ten teams, they have won some "diffificult games." Beat 6-3 Boise State 28-7 Beat #20 USC 34-24 NC State doesn't suck, and they trounced them. And their only losses are by one point to #3 Texas A&M and by three points to #18 Miami on the road. That's a strong-ish resume - they are currently #5 in FPI for whatever that's worth. It's not an IU resume, but then again, Notre Dame is not given the CFP love that IU has been given.
  16. Or Acimovic is a red shirt. That must be it.
  17. Andrej Acimovic must not be thrilling the coaches. Four walk-ons got into the game and he still hasn’t.
  18. Alabama A&M is not currently a defensive juggernaut. Lol
  19. A buncha 21/22 year olds getting yelled at by coach. Looking him in the eye and listening.
  20. Here’s something to chew on: Last year’s opening game was against Southern Illinois Edwardsville. Here is the soul sucking box score:
  21. I HATE THE BIG HEADS. bring back woody style no big head-ness?
  22. That was so good that four of our bench guys almost jumped out of their walking boots.
