Str8Hoosiers

Maybe it is just me but I love to look at statistics and manipulations and see where it leads me. Everybody can use the "eye test" but everybody sees something different or at least sees it in a different way. Statistics are fascinating because they are what they are yet they are also so very open for interpretation. Well this stat is higher because of that... or this stat would be higher but the plan doesn't allow for it... type of influences. So here are the current IU stats and a small analysis from me on them... I would be interested to hear others thoughts and/or analysis. He is 3rd in Assists, however Green is also 3rd in TOs. Per minute played Green is #1 Assists & Steals and even though he is also #1 in TO's he has the 3rd best Assist/Turnover ratio on the team. Zach McRoberts - Next up is McBob who is also at the center of a lot of Playing Time discussions. It is the hustle plays that give him any minutes at all and they are surely not reflected in a statistical analysis... but he is shooting 50% on the season he just refuses to shoot.His stats are limited but he has the #1 Assist/Turnover Ratio on the team and is 3rd in Rebounds per minute played. Justin Smith - Continues to drive me crazy on the court (via my Eye Test) but after looking at the Stats he is contributing nicely. #3 in Field Goals made, #3 at Free Throw attempts (drawing fouls is a grossly underrated part of winning ball games). #3 in Points & Rebounds as well. The bad part of his game is that he is #2 in Turnovers in both total and per minute played. I purposely started out with the guys that get the bad usually... but will end with the good... Romeo Langford - As expected he has played the most minutes, and attempted the most shots, he is our go to after all. He is our #1 scorer and has attempted more FT than anybody else on the team (He has shot more FT than ANY 2 players on the team combined). But for all this he has his flaws as well... he has the most TOs on the team, and he has attempted the most 3's while only being #6 on 3's made. He plays tough on both ends of the floor though as he is #2 in Blocked Shots & #3 in Steals. Juwan Morgan - The counter-punch to Romeo is 2nd in every category that Romeo is 1st and is basically 1st in all the others. Juwan is leading the team in 3s made while only being 4th in 3s attempted and he is #2 in Points scored. Leads the team in Rebounds & Blocks.

Jacksonville St is a decent team... with a better than average Defense.... luckily we are not playing them... :)

Not good at all... I fully expect(ed) him back for Jacksonville... go through the protocol, get cleared, no big deal.. be safe and not let him play Central Arkansas but not a long term issue... Hopefully they just don't know the details yet...

I don't think he had much of a choice... he could either try the behind the back or pull it back out... either way the fast break is over... we didn't lose the possession. It was bad floor spacing by both of them but the pass itself wasn't bad, it got deflected... sometimes that happens. I am absolutely THRILLED when he tries to make those passes because they work many times, and I know there isn't anybody else on our team willing and able to make them. Maybe I am a bit biased as that is my playing style as well, I love to pass and specifically love to make the pass nobody on the court sees coming (except the recipient of course). So I guess we shouldn't shoot 3's, shouldn't dunk the ball, no floaters, no crossovers... everything should just be a layup or a short jumper because highlight plays are meaningless and there is no reason to be cute. Except every highlight play brings more spotlight to the team and more visibility for fans, future recruits, etc. Give me Green all game every game.

He dove head first into a knee (going for a loose ball rebound)... didn't get up immediately and never got back on Defense... however was back up and received the outlet pass on the offensive end. At the dead ball he came out of the game. Then reluctantly was taken back to the locker room and never returned to the bench.

Finally a game to breathe easy for most of the game... KenPom ratings are still weighted in Preseason info until Mid-January... that is why Purdue is still up there as high as they are. Keep losing and they will fall!!!! :)

Oh I definitely added an hour at the end (always do).... I don't know that I ever realized before that you could also add time to the beginning.

Thank you. I didn't think about the fact I can tell my DVR to start early... so I just set it at 4pm & "Start 15 Minutes Early" so I will have it DVRd regardless if it starts on time or not so I won't miss the beginning of the game.

Why don't we have to worry about that? What time is tipoff? Schedule says 3:45 but TV listing starts at 4... don't want to miss the beginning of the game on DVR... Should I record the early game too just to make sure?
