Not surprising at all, I’ve heard Baldwin is a ******* stud. keeping him from the late Colorado push was huge. -

See, pretty notable change. You went from “true” freshman to just freshman, I’d say there’s a rather significant difference between guys who are fresh out of high school and guys who have a year+ under their belt at the college level. I also am not sure where you are coming up with these freshman from. LB? We have Isaiah Jones and Kaiden Turner there in reserve, neither of which are freshman. Safety has one freshman who’s in the two deep because he was extremely highly touted and impressed the staff early on. Interior D Line? Again, likely not a single freshman sitting on your two deep there, but as third string, sure? offensive line, once again, not one true freshman there, and you do have a few redshirt freshman across the board, but we have a clear top 6 there and versatile guys who can switch. I don’t think a redshirt freshman being in a reserve role is a red flag, every team in the country has that. -

Yeah how many true freshman are in our two deep? Not really seeing this complaint. Only one I can think of is Byron Baldwin and that has more to do with Byron Baldwin being very good than us lacking depth. -

Rourke did struggle in my view against better teams when the O Line didn’t hold up. Obviously ACL was a big part of that. but he just couldn’t move, couldn’t extend plays, and it’s really hard for your pass protection to hold consistently against teams like OSU and Notre Dame. that’s one element Mendoza brings, the guy can move. -

That’s true, im not super concerned about depth at some of those, particularly WR and secondary. We have some depth issues at corner, but Ponds/Sharpe/Grandy/Knighten are four legit corners and we have some young guys who were highly touted too, Jah Jah Boyd for one. WR is somewhat similar. Cooper/Sarratt are undeniably your top two but you still have EJ Williams/Jonathan Brady/Makai Jackson behind those guys, and then a couple young guys who will probably be getting reps like a LeBron Bond or a Davion Chandler. I will say I am really interested to see who wins that WR #3 job, I think Brady is the best body type for it, but that’ll be an interesting battle with Tyler Morris going down. Interior defensive line is the one position group I’m not sure we have a ton of depth or high end talent, but I’d love to be wrong. -

One major worry I have is interior D-Line. Thought Tyrique Tucker was pretty great as a reserve last season, and then I expect Hosea Wheeler to take over the other starting spot. Dominique Ratcliff I expect to be the main reserve. I don’t know, I just think West/Carpenter were big losses, particularly West. Hope the new guys can fill that void because it’s a big one. That’s about the one position group I’m worried about falling off a bit. -

Would Walter Clayton had been an overpay if it took $2 million to get him? Genuine question, your logic seems to be if he’s a mid major it’s an overpay and yet Clayton just led his team to a championship so I’m trying to figure out if you’re actually consistent with the logic. -

Because multiple reputable sources have said so and every guy we’ve added we’ve been competing against power conference teems for. the evidence we didn’t pay $10M is waynefleekhoosier said so without having access to any information whatsoever. -

No offense but you have quite literally zero credentials to tell anyone how much these players cost on the open market. -

I know it’s a different sport and all, but our football team just went to the college football playoffs on the back of mid major players. Florida just won a championship in basketball on the back of a lot of mid major players. Why do you view mid major in and of itself as damning? You seem to be offering no further analysis beyond our players used to be mid majors. I don’t know if you’ve been more accurate than most in the past or not, haven’t been here long enough to tell, but I don’t see why that means you’re remotely correct here. I am well aware of how many players routinely make the jump from impact mid major players to impact power conference players. Are we pretending that’s rare or unheard of? I do know that viewing mid major in and of itself as damning is terrible analysis though and pretty ignorant of how much talent is overlooked there. And that talent regularly transfers over to power conferences and even to the NBA.
